I have been a customer of Maine Coast, Downes & Reader and now Rugby for going on 20 years. The service and selection have always been second to none in the greater Portland area. Over the past couple years since Rugby became the new name the species selection has started dwindling. Still my first call with my needs i have been disappointed on a few occasions with the removal of some of the items I was accustomed to buying from them. But i think the worst part that is steering me towards other sources is the negative attitude of the sales guy in the office. I have heard the same company bashing coming out of him on every visit I could almost recite it.he is never happy and it's always nobody above him knows what they are doing. I hope they get their stuff together. i would hate to see them go away after so many years.

From the salesman Dave, to the delivery guy (I forget his name) everyone goes out of their way to give me the best buying experience possible. Their prices are competitive. I have been doing business with them for many years now. I wouldn't dare go elsewhere!

Rugby/Downes and Reader have been my best lumber suppliers for more than ten years. I think they have the best lumber in the Northeast.
