Dane is a fellow lawyer, and we've worked on cases together so I've had several chances to see him "behind the scenes" so to speak. I knew Dane was a great lawyer before I worked with him, but now I know he's an outstanding lawyer.
Dane is smart, prepared, confident, and wise. And he's a well known Louisiana legal ethics expert, not just for the fact that he teaches the subject at Loyola Law School. But also because he wrote a book on the subject, and —more importantly— represents lawyers who are charged with ethics violations by the Louisiana Disciplinary Board.
I am fortunate not to have had any disciplinary problems, but I know that lawyers can't always control what clients think or do. So I'm not naive enough to think that just being a competent, and diligent, lawyer will inoculate you from ethics complaints.
One thing I know for certain: If I ever had a disciplinary problem the first person I'd call would be Dane. I also know a lot of lawyers who've made that call. All of them have been happy they did.
