We weren’t seated. The attitude of the hostess was so bad we turned around. We love the one on Johnston street, so we gave this one a shot....fail!

Got the Crawfish half and half and a few blue moons. Perfect meal. Waitress was awesome! Worth the price.

ZERO STAR. Just had the worst experience in 30 years of visiting Don's Downtown. I live in Houston and for 17 years I've been sending friends to Don's. Made a reservation a week in advance for Valentine's. We arrived and had to wait 30 minutes for our table. While waiting we we to the bar for drink. The bar staff ignored us while waiting on customers that called them by name. I thought ok we now live out of town and they dont know us. Finally we got the attention of a staff member and ordered a drink. Mind you the bar wasnt busy... We were seated 30 minutes after our arrival. Some 10 minutes later we were greeted by our waitress. We quickly ordered apps only to wait 30 minutes for a gumbo and shrimp cocktail. We asked for a manager who eventually brought us a cold gumbo. Our order of crab meat au gratin and crawfish ettoufe arrived one hour and a half after we ordered. At this time we had been in the restaurant over two hours. The au gratin had no crab meat and the ettoufe tasted like it came from a crawfish boil. Needless to say I was disappointed. We drove 4 hours for "cajun food" that we get at the worst restaurants in Houston. I am beyond disappointed. I've sent friend and family to Don's downtown for better than 30 years. Friend in Houston often ask where to eat when in Lafayette, I always send them here. "Go to Don's" it's the original Landrys. I am so embarrassed that my friends and family have been subjected to this. Awful would be an understatement for what we were subjected to. I'll never refer my friends to this place again. Not only did we have a horrible meal and experience I actually got better service and food from the room service staff at the Doubletree. Signed Heartbroken
