When we go to NOLA for our family vacation we always stop here to eat even if we don't stay on that side of town. The staff are friendly and quick to serve. The food tastes amazing and great size portions for the price. The old man who I'm assuming is the owner doesn't seem like he wants to be there, scowls at the people sitting there eating and makes you feel uncomfortable when trying to eat. The place is a little out dated and does have that old building smell but we go there for the food not the colour of the chairs or wallpaper.

I had my wedding reception at smiles in the plantation room 6/13/15. When we arrive I didn't expect for it to look so beautiful. They blew me away Myself and family was really impressed with the decorations, food, and drinks. Mrs. Charlene catered to my every need. She was so nice and made sure the whole night I was taken care of. They made a day for me to remember for life. The owner of smiles is also so nice. I read all the reviews after I booked it and saw the negative things was said. And it 100% wrong. I would recommend this establishment to any and everyone of all ethics and race. It is also very reasonable price.
