Excellent Choice is exactly that! A hidden gem in Leavenworth and the only authentic southern food I've loved outside of the south. I ordered catfish, mac and cheese, and collard greens while my husband tried the shrimp and onion rings. We added an order of hush puppies to share because you can't skip those! Everything was truly delicious. My catfish was perfectly fried and seasoned, and we loved each of the sides we ordered. The hardest part was choosing which few to order as they all sound so good! Service was excellent as it's operated by two of the sweetest ladies. They had our meal packed and ready to go when we arrived and we chatted for a couple minutes before heading out. It's a very small place so they do takeout only, but don't let that or the limited hours deter you. Excellent Choice is WELL worth the visit and I can't wait to return.

While not looking like much from the exterior or interior, this place is a hidden gem in Leavenworth. Great option for home style southern cooking take out. We had a great meal on a Friday during lent getting our fish fry fix. I ordered the fried shrimp meal and added an extra side, getting mac 'n cheese and fried mushrooms. All of the meals came with cornbread as well. I wish I could of tried all the sides. My friend got the catfish which looked incredible and she graciously let me steal a hush puppy, which were so flavorful! The owner was so polite and had our meal packed nicely when we arrived, ensuring we had all the sauces and any extras we needed. Would highly recommend this place for home style cooking to-go.
