Okay disappointed; first the side salad tasted like unwashed greens - chemical taste. The catfish was way too blacked to burnt. The salmon tasted old and not a good combination on bread.? And the service was arrogant. Very dark so I couldnt hardly read menu.

This has been my regular spot for years now. Love it! Great food and service at a reasonable price. Atmosphere is a bit upper-scale but not snobbish at all. Truly a long-time Des Moines gem! Pictured is a recent surf and turf special

Wow. This lovely hidden gem never disappoints and dang it all if we just dont get here enoughquick side note that the last visit with my son was summer of 2022 and the spinach artichoke dip is something we still talk about. When we arrived, a nice young gentleman said it might be a 15-20 minute wait, but quickly assured us that a table had cleared and it would be a just quick minute. In all that super quick time, he checked in on us three times and we were at our table in less than 3 minutes. His care was impressive, and he was running tables. How do you hire team members like that, always a marvel. Our server Danielle was with us immediately. Brought our drinks, and my wife who is usually not a can you bring me something I didnt order cause I know you dont have any other tables, ordered hot tea after our drinks arrived and this freaking Danielle person smiled wide and instantly appeared back with piping hot water, wedge of lemon and several varietals of tea.she never broke her Star Search award winning serving smile. We started with the mussels that were steamed amazingly with a butter, garlic, green onion sauce and the portion was soooo generous. Danielle brought out two puffed up rolls to soak up the butter if we wantedand yes, she said it with a glowing smile. This girl was crazy quick My bride ordered the 8oz filet and requested the Deburgo side to dress the steak, cooked to a perfect medium rare. She enjoyed an included side of baked potato soup. Her steak also was served with fresh zucchini, summer squash, broccoli and carrot wide cuts, cooked to an al dente perfection. I had the Ahi seared tuna which included a side salad with a delicious house made creamy Parmesan dressing. But the star of the show was how perfectly cooked the tuna, never had I had it cooked so perfectly, rare and seasoned with that chefs kiss. There was a side of ginger soy vinaigrette and it was laid on a julienne bed of squash and carrots cooked again to al dente perfection. There clearly was a ton of Yes Chef happening in that kitchen last night. Also, my side of Brussels sprouts were cooked perfectly. Both plates were just so attentive to a foodie lovers detail. Our server Danielle was exceptional. I am a huge soda Diet Coke drinker, and she never had that glass below 1/2 wayand that is just a micro of her superb service. We will run, not walk back to the Urban Grill again soon!
