I have used Jan on a number of occasions and have not had any problems . She has been reliable and leaves a note. She is really flexible with her schedule and she seems to love my dog. As far as the other reviews--- I will tell you from experience, caring for other people's pets is not an easy job and many times comes with unfounded claims, which your pet cannot confirm, and many times people are very hard to please . Also, spiders can rebuild webs VERY quickly. Remember there are always two sides to a story.

We used Caring Pet Sitters several times over the last year to watch our two cats and have had multiple problems with the service. The very first time we had scheduled with them, the sitter showed up a week early, and I thought, "Simple scheduling mistake, it could happen to anybody." The next few visits were fine. Then, a few months ago, we went out of town for a few days. I left explicit instructions about watering ONE plant, as well as filling our bird feeders -- both things the service offers when they come to your home. When I returned home, my plant was dead and both bird feeders were empty, although the cats were fed and taken care of. When I emailed Jan to tell her we wouldn't be using the service anymore, she was very understanding, offered a refund, and asked if we would give them one more chance if she came to the house personally to take care of the cats. As an act of good faith, I sent payment anyway and told Jan I would give them another chance. Last week I emailed Jan to schedule service for Labor Day weekend. When she sent the invoice, the dates were wrong, so I responded to the email telling her the exact correct dates. Nevertheless, not only did a sitter show up last night, but it wasn't Jan as she had promised. tl;dr: While the service is basically passable, organizational and communication skills are seriously lacking. I wouldn't trust this service to show up when they're supposed to, or to provide more than the most routine care to your animals -- if they manage to do that.

This "business" doesn't even deserve one star. My elderly father hired Jan to take care of his cats for three days when we left town one weekend in August. When I brought him home, we walked through a massive cobweb in front of his door. This was the first indicator no one had been there. The cat dishes were bone dry and the litter boxes were filled with feces. But worst of all -- the water dish was filled with cat urine. Cat urine! And the smell was SO putrid, SO rancid, this did not just happen that day. It had been sitting there like that for days. The cats had gone DAYS without fresh water. Something so basic - and yet Jan couldn't do it. When I called to voice my concern, she was rude, dismissive, and tried to blame my father! Unbelievable! I told her I wanted a refund, which she said she would do. One week later - no refund or phone call to my father. I called her FOUR times before she finally "found time" in her super busy, super successful schedule away from her "many happy customers" to go to my father's house and drop off a refund check. My father said he answered the door and Jan threw the check at him, said, 'here ya go' and left. She had no apology. She never once apologized. She is an appallingly inept piece of human *&$@! She tried to scam my father. She should be out of business. Better yet - she should be made to suffer three days like she made my father's cats suffer! DO NOT hire this "business." Just horrible!
