Wondering what happened to this business? I've called several times with no answer and mailbox is full. I figured maybe they are just really busy, drove there during posted hours and not open, no sign, nothing. Very frusterating. Which is why I've downgraded to 2 stars.

Robert is very knowledgeable and generous with his time to explain everything you need. We covered planting and harvesting schedules; soil types for different fruits, vegetables and flowers; and plant nutrition. No other place like it in Des Moines. We are now all set to start our raised garden.

The soil kitchen is a first rate source for testing, product information, advice, seeds, plant starts and all your soil needs. The owners make you feel welcome and never talk down to you, their information has always been right on and they are happy to find what you need - even if it isn't in their shop.
A must visit before you start your garden this year. They are alway's trying new products and have built a great working knowledge of the products they offer. You can see a lot of their products being used in the plants they start right there at the store.
Offering one of a kind items for the garden, rocks, art etc....
It's worth a trip from anywhere.
