Cuckoo Clockologist

Called asking for help with a clock and was rudely told “ we do not work on those we cannot get parts “ when I explained to her that I didn’t think it needed parts just wanted them to maybe look at it as it is my 99 year old mothers and would love to get it working she rudely says in a rather stern tone again “WE DO NOT WORK ON THOSE”

Terrible. Paid $200 to have a clock not even fixed and gain a nice cigarette smoke smell.

Unhappy experience overall. I sent them a cuckoo clock I had received for my 16th birthday that had stopped working. According to a local shop the works and bellows looked good and the clock just needed cleaning. However, they were booked out until January. I searched online for other options and came across thecuckooclockologist. The site impressed me; the clockologist appeared to know his business and had a 2-4 week turnaround, so I thought I could send him the clock and have it back and running in time for my birthday. An hour after I got the delivery confirmation from UPS I called the clockologist to ensure they received the clock and that it arrived intact. The woman who answered hadn't checked for deliveries and went outside to look. She found the clock but did not open the box and told me she would notify me concerning any problems. I had to wonder, had I not called, whether my clock would have sat outside on the step all night. A week later the clockologist emailed with the news that the works and bellows were shot and needed to be replaced, plus I would need new weights, for a total cost exceeding $300. I told them to just send it back. I expected the clock would arrive in the same condition I had sent it. I was appalled when I opened the box and removed the back. The works were slimy with oil, one bellow was missing completely, and the gear wires were every which way. My clock will never work without a total rebuild! Problem is, I don't know whether the clock arrived damaged and that it really did need everything they claimed, or whether they just tried to pad the bill. I have since read about places that offer inexpensive cleanings and then hit you with a slew of other charges. It's true what they say: shop local!
