Flower Cottage

Small town price gougers who take advantage of their long term elderly customers. We strive to support local businesses, but Flower Cottage overcharged my family for flowers for my father’s funeral. When I requested an explanation they reached out to my elderly mother (and not me, though I was the one with the complaint) and indicated it was a supply chain issue, which we are more than willing to understand (and perhaps they should find another distributor if there was a speck of truth in that excuse) - but after researching every florist in the area, my mother was still overcharged by at least $100. They overcharged my father for decades, and customer loyalty clearly means nothing to them. They saw an opportunity to overcharge my mother and they took it, billing her $370 for an urn spray consisting of 2 dozen roses and some greenery and a dozen carnations in a Bud vase. The arrangements were satisfactory, albeit somewhat rudimentary compared to what I’ve seen from other florists at this price point (hence the 2 star rating instead of 1), but upon research, every other florist in the area would have charged ~$250 for what we received. Weeks before, my friend bought his mother’s casket spray (which had dozens more flowers than 24 roses) at a competing florist in the county and it was $350. Flower Cottage doesn’t use telefloral services. Comparative telefloral costs in the area for what my mother received were $220. They will never get business from my family again, so I hope they enjoy the $100+ they overcharged my grieving mother. Shameful business practices. Buyer beware.
