Don't go here for veterinary services. Expect to be on hold for 5-10 minutes for every call, to have to return for multiple tests, and to pay a LOT for medications and solutions that don't work. My dog was incredibly sick and got sicker after they failed to diagnose him correctly.

I picked up my dog from boarding services recently. He had stayed there for 10 days. My dog was shaking and not eating. He had yellow crusty stuff all over his penis which I had to remove with running warm water over the area. The yellow discharge continued throughout the day. When I called to ask about it they indicated that the vet was gone for the day and they had nothing noted through the boarding notations. I then said I would take him to my vet. The staff who answered said he had notified the manager and I should call back to inform them of what his status was the next day. I took my dog to my vet and he had a sheath infection and was prescribed an antibiotic for a skin infection and the sheath infection. Canine companions did not report that they were aware of any of these symptoms or have their vet check it out under the 'Carefree' guarantee. They also refused to reimburse me after I called to report on the vet visit the next day. I will never take a pet there again for any service. I would rate this place a zero if this rating system would let me.

I brought in my yellow lab to stay for a few days as I went out of town. My poor lab is 11 years old and has hip displacesion (sp) issues. So needless to say, long ago I invested in a well padded pet bed to give my little girl all the comfort possible. After all, it's a simple thing you can do to greatly improve your lab's quality of life. When I checked into CC, they refused to accept the pet bed due to over-crowding. (Not my fault your business can't schedule properly.) After presenting my lab's condition they agreed to grant her said pet bed. Upon my pick up I was informed the bed was never used due to some poppy-cock excuse. Not that I needed to be told this as my poor lab could hardly stand up on her own and had great troubles walking. How you treat another living being like this is beyond me. I didn't make a lengthy troublesome request. It's rather simple really. You place the bed in the kennel and go on with life. When I tried to make contact with the owner, my phone calls were constantly left on hold and no management was ever in. I don't know of a lot of businesses that never have a manager on duty at all times of operating hours. I don't know how CC feels like a pet care business should be ran but they surely need to reassess their business ethics. I will never do business with this establishment again and I'll be certain to share my negative experiences with everyone I can.

BEWARE! I just picked my 2 yr old bulldog up yesterday after kenneling him for 7 days and he was so sick he had couldn't even wag his tail. I had to demand that he be seen by a vet after the staff told me it was just a cold. They never called us on vacation to inform us of any illness. He went in weighing 75 lbs. and left 7 days later at 66 lbs, laboured breathing, and green mucus coming out of his nose!!!!!! Thank God for the Vet that actually came in because she was concerned when they described his condition to her. She immediately gave him an antibiotic injection and sent us home with medication (which we had to pay for). . . AWFUL TREATMENT and I will be filing a criminal complaint with the Monroe CO Animal Management division.

Okay - We used this facility a year ago for a weekend trip out of town and it was a good experience. Our dog had fun with the other dogs and the kids could almost see her on the tiny doggie cam that they provide on the internet. However, this time our dog stayed for over two weeks. I just picked her up today with an eye infection and she is very underweight. It looks like they didn't feed her. She has been eating and fighting with a friend's dog over food today - something that she never did before. She also has a scrape on her side. I am willing to forgive the eye and the scrape given that things like that happen from time to time when dogs are allowed to play together. Not being fed enough food - that is another more serious problem (she is a young and athletic dog). This facility advertises (and I note charges more than other facilities) that it has a vet on site. Why when a dog gets an eye infection at their facility or gets a scrape at their facility they don't treat that dog is beyond me. We called about the eye infection and were told that they noticed it 5 days ago. The dog has been there for two weeks, so it is clear that she got it there and that they should have been responsible for treating it. If I had rated this facility after the last stay, I would have given them a 4 or even 5. The staff are nice and they seem to be working to make the stay pleasant, but the policies concerning health issues and the fact that my dog looks very malnourished after two weeks is troubling. I will not be taking my dog there. For half the price she can stay at a more conventional facility. This is a follow up comment - I just received a phone call from a very nice manager at Canine Companions. He seemed to be very concerned about the eye and the cough (which she just started this morning). He also pointed out that the dog may have simply played very very hard and that is why she is looking malnourished. I will give him that since there are always variables and I wasn't there to see what had happened. As I said, he seemed quite concerned so I wanted to be sure to post a follow up because I want to be fair.
