Two Tails Market/Eatery

They have the best fresh fish around as well as a great stop for a quick lunch or dinner. I special ordered fresh sardines last week and they were some of the best I've ever had. Can't recommend these guys enough!

Don't listen to the Haters. Two tails has recently changed ownership. My co workers and I eat there at least once a week. They have several specials daily. You WILL NOT find a better burger in Mchenry county. The Clam chowder (they have it every day) is AWESOME, you'll need to go to New England to have better..... Pricing is good too, you'll spend a little bit more than McD's or taco bell, but the food is SO much better, fresher, and healthier!

The wife wanted to try this place out for lunch one day. I finally gave in after my previous bad experience here with the high priced/little food place. Long story short, we decided to try and meet-up early so that we can beat the lunch crowd. Arrived at approx. 11:45AM.. Ordered 2 salads... YES! 2 Salads, simple enough right? As stated above, we put our order in at 11:47AM and sat down to chat, 7mins go by and we're like okay... Where's the salad? Thought we beat the lunch crowd. 10, 15, 18, 22 mins go by and still nothing... At this point i was very upset, but just sat there. Finally, 35mins later, YES! 35 minutes later the lady rolls around the corner with two salads, chicken salad. I was like WTF! Not only did the salad take forever to be made, but my wife's order was wrong. We were so upset about the wait, that she decided to just eat it anyway. Save your money, dont go to this place. Slow service, very expensive and just odd overall. I will not be going back. Giving it 1 star only because Google makes you give 1 star, otherwise it would be a -1.... Just go to Subway...

This was our first AND our last time at Two Tails! We ordered two shrimp dinners with fries and coleslaw plus two cups of clam chowder all for carry-out. The staff was reasonably friendly and we were greeted at the counter and given a paper menu to look over. We ordered and in a reasonable amount of time our food was packaged and ready to go. The first disappointment came as I watched each and every piece of our food being packed in the styrofoam dishes by a young man without gloves on. He frequently wiped his hands on a towel that hung from his jean's pocket. The next disappointment came when I went to pay. The prices were already high but my bill was even higher than expected. When I questioned it I was told that the price had increased on the shrimp dinners but they just had not had time to change it on the paper menus yet! Most unacceptable! An apology was given, but NO adjustment in price! The next disappointment came when we got home and saw then tasted the food. The fries were dark brown and had tasted scorched. We actually laughed when we saw the coleslaw because there was -- literally !-- only 2 T. in each very tiny container. The two bites of coleslaw we did get were warm and had horseradish in it which we don't care for. We were relieved there wasn't more of it frankly. Two of my eight shrimp tasted odd (like a chemical cleaner?) while the other six were okay but not "delicious". And I love shrimp! If anything, they tasted a bit like fish and lacked a normal "shrimp" taste. The only good thing about this whole meal and experience was the clam chowder. It was delicious! The best I have ever tasted! The bill was almost $40. Just down the road around the bend, Culver's has a great 10 pc. shrimp dinner with a LOT more food for much less $. We won't be returning to Two Tails - unless I want a clam chowder to-go.

First time coming here and we will be back for sure! The seafood was great and the BYOB is a very nice touch. If you like fish this is the place to go
