Hession Plumbing is licensed with City of Chicago and with their high level of professionalism and knowledge of city sewers, it shows. We are so glad to have found a city licensed and experienced plumber with reasonable rates and prompt availability. In our situation, we just moved into our home less than 3 weeks ago. We made an appointment for Hession Plumbing to install a clean out for the sewer line outside so that we can begin practicing good home maintenance and to have our sewer line rodded. Hession plumbing advised a clean out be installed outside because the existing system is a basin with an old access point within the house which if used to rod, would allow sewage to spill through the basement. Separately, we noticed that since we got into the house, one of the toilets would weakly flush and the other toilet would take 3 attempts in order to successfully flush. We did not mention that to Hession Plumbing as we figured that we probably just needed to take some at home measures of maintenance to resolve that and we had finally caught up in our schedule to make some attempts ourselves. Hession Plumbing arrived punctually for our appointment and while I watched, after excavating the sewer line, Hession showed me that this existing sewer line was actually broken with a foot section of pipe missing with bricks placed along the broken section (photo attached). I guess the prior owner had someone attempt a repair and when they found that it was too much for them to do, they put bricks there to prevent the broken pipe from allowing the ground to sink. The previous owner must have had someone work on the line but walked away from it, leaving a broken pipe with bricks in its place (photo of some bricks pulled out is attached). This existing system would have caused us real sewage backups in our house sooner rather than later. What we thought was a maintenance project was actually a emergency repair as the sewer essentially had already failed! This break was the cause of why our toilets were not properly flushing as the flush was discharging essentially underground in our yard with only a small amount getting to the city sewer. Hession Plumbing discovered this by exploring underground and studying the existing pipes before just putting in the clean out. In the rain, Hession Plumbing replaced the broken pipe and installed the clean out and rodded the sewer line all the way to the City sewer in the street. Hession Plumbing showed concern showed professionalism as he fixed an issue that neither they nor us had had known existed. Once the break was fixed with a new pipe, Hession Plumbing installed the clean out which allows clean, easy rodding of the line outside. Immediately after Hession Plumbing rodded the line, the toilets flushed strongly and well and the line was able to flow with so much broken pipe, debris and tree roots removed. Hession Plumbing provided some tips to best maintain the line and to manage the tree roots which would grow back in the future due to trees present on adjacent properties. We are grateful that our sewer line is no longer broken as it had essentially been spilling sewage underground in our front yard. Hession Plumbing's fees were very reasonable especially given the extra and unexpected work they encountered. Hession Plumbing treated out courteously and with respect and we highly recommend them. We are very satisfied with their services and we have decided that they will be our regular plumber.

I have lived in Oak Lawn for 32 years and have used various plumbers with "mixed" degrees of satisfaction. My wife and I recently sold our house and consistent with Oak Lawn's new "Point of Sale" requirement that went into effect April 1, 2021 and we needed to have plumbing work done to meet the requirements of the the "Point of Sale". The village has a list of plumbers that they advise can do the work, and we chose Hessian (who we never used before) because of their Availability and Price! This was a relatively big job and somewhat stressful. Joe completed the job, and was on site when the village reviewed the work and confirmed that my home now met the "Point of Sale" requirements! If ANY of my friends or ANY of my family ever ask me for a recommendation for a plumber, it will be easy - I will absolutely recommend Hessian Plumbing Services!!
