Guys are very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Very fair pricing on part sales and their service is quick, fair, and honest. Shop is quaint and vintage looking, but functional. Always a pleasure doing business there.

I took my HIGH END Wusthof knives in for a sharpen. I had heard nothing but great things about them. In theory its everything I love about business. Small town, family operated and great service. I went in and got them back and something seemed off about them. I took 5 knives in and the price was incredible. $17 for all of them. I looked at my sankotu knife, and the hollow edge seemed off. I paid and went to the car. I looked closer and one side of it was totally unevenly ground. The scallops on one side were cut down, while the other side was acceptable. I looked closer to my other 3 straight blades and seemed pretty good then I saw where they were ground unevenly by the bolster. I specifically told them that i need a 15* angle on each side per the manufacturer. I have since gotten home and what i can say is this. They are extremely sharp! I am just very disappointed in the lack of care taken to such high quality knives. Each one of these knives retail for about $100 for the smaller ones. They are not unable to be used, but my heart literally hurts looking at them. If you are like most people and have middle of the road Chicago Cutlery and lesser, this place will be fine. But if you are a professional chef or foodie with high quality like Wusthof Shun or Henkels, then I would look at going to Northwest Cutlery in Chicago for a true professional job.
