Ravinia Associates Internal Medical

Called to have my son seen, I've been with Ravinia for over twenty years. Was told if there is a cough he cant be seen, its Northshore policy. Go to urgent care was her curt reply. there is more than COVID illnesses out there...I guess ravinia only does physicals .

This office lacks class and charm. I was waiting to be seen for my yearly physical and maybe one other person was in the waiting area. I heard a nurse scream a name that was the same as mine. However I assumed it was a different person with the same name since she did not open the door to look for a patient in the waiting room . She was forced to open the door and call my name to get my attention. I asked her about it and she did not have a good answer. And The physical? Do it yourself. No remembering my issue that brought me in one month before the physical. Get the bloodwork done and google it yourself. A very part time doctor who doesnt tell you why she is unavailable is no bargain unless you are never sick.

Dr. Kimberly Schaeffer is the sorriest excuse for a doctor that I have ever come across. She was late, didn't listen, and didn't even know what a yeast infection is--I kid you not! I stated I was itching "down there" and thought I might have candida. She then pronounces it "canada"! Like the country. She says she doesn't even know how to test for it. Are you serious? There are stool tests, blood tests, and urine tests all looking for the presence of candida or antibodies or byproducts. How do I know more than her regarding a basic disease. Long story short she straight up REFUSED to allow me testing. Had to go to a doctor in the city who tested me and surprise surprise; CANDIDA. Schaeffer is a joke. Only send your worst enemies to her for medical care.

I was a patient at Ravinia Associates for over 15 years. While my Internist was attentive, thorough and provided excellent care I was not happy with the practice itself. Perhaps it went downhill when they were taken over. Without the past ability to leave voice mails for the Dr. or Nurse, phone calls now, were rarely if ever returned, even if the call was marked "urgent" or "priority" - I am still waiting for a phone call from last OCT to schedule a pre-op physical LOL. The staff on the phones and at front desk were okay, not overly-friendly. I didn't feel like I could rely on this practice in an emergency. It grew too large and perhaps too "corporate". I left and joined a different practice when my internist Left and it is 100% better. Calls are returned by a friendly, knowledgeable nurse within hours, sometimes less. Availability for sick appointments is better, staff is better, etc. With this new level of service, I no longer recommend Ravinia Associates.
