Super disappointing experience, would avoid at all costs! My friend referred me to CSA accounting and I was not made aware that Hamilton was in the process of acquiring their business. I put down a $250 deposit for 2023 tax services and during the acquisition was lost in the shuffle. No services were rendered and Hamilton refuses to refund the deposit. At no point between August (when I put down the deposit) and February did they make any contact with me, offer me any advice, etc. It was only in February when I asked how I could get help that they notified me their fees increased from the initial quote. I politely requested a refund of my deposit since I was misled and no services were rendered. It took almost 3 weeks to get an answer, only once I sent multiple emails. And they simply said, no. Pass on this business!

Steve and his team are terrific to work with. Steve is a very innovative thinker and gives great advice. The team also excel at keeping on top of all things "basic" compliance and bookkeeping, so I can sleep at night and have one less thing to worry about.

I wanted to like this firm. I wanted to have found the tax professional I could rely on. This company is not it. The amount of mistakes they made on my 2022 is unbelievable and the words that come to mind are "negligence" and " irresponsible". If you are looking for a company where they will treat you with care and hear your concerns, keep looking. I don't' want to speak out of emotions, so here is an objective data: 1) The firm prepared original tax return (in April) incorrectly and asked me to come up with amount of money. As it turned out in October (during final preparation due to extension) I dint' have to do it in the first place. I ended up with the refund. 2) They overlooked to put in estimated taxes into the return 3) They overlooked additional depreciation that caused me over 10K I also paid for tax planning meetings twice and had 0 advise from them. Not worth the money you pay for. Keep looking!

I made $20k with Steve my first year! I have worked with Steve and his team for a few years. The first year, he intelligently made me a 20k refund the first year on my 70k W2 salary because the property I bought that year which included 1 AirBnB Unit was able to average less than a 7 day stay including renters making it an active income (depreciation can then works against your W2 Income). I don't believe many tax professionals would have considered the ability to include renters in the average stay count, but in doing so, I way able to consider real estate depreciation an active loss which drastically increased my return from the first property I ever bought and 1031'd it. I highly doubt I'd have been able to get this instant return from anyone else. Since then, he has constantly WOW'd me with impressive ideas on how to save the most from a tax perspective. No matter what business you're in, you're always in business with the government, and your tax advisor is your front-running for how to manage that relationship. I highly recommend Steve & his team for anyone who owns any sort of business, he knows the tax system well, has a keen mind, and will make sure you don't overpay in taxes.

Hi, Kate -I’ve reviewed the records on your account and I see that in January, you responded directly to an email that was sent from our firm with an update on the portal URL info. On February 5, I show that you were sent an email with an introduction to tax season with the firm, the up front housekeeping regarding how we work through returns in the season and our cutoff dates, an introduction to the consultants and a link to the calendar to schedule appointments. Additionally, the link to the calendar to schedule a consultation is in the portal upon login and is in the signature section of each emailed communication.I’ve reviewed all of the historic records in our online appointment scheduler and I do not see where any appointments were scheduled to discuss your questions. If we don’t know that you have questions, we can’t help. Ownership must be taken by the client to schedule an appointment to discuss questions and planning. If you don’t reach out, that tells us you’re not interested in a planning consult. On 8/31, you asked a planning question that needed a consult. Chelsea responded to that on 9/8 with some general info to get you started and recommended a consult at that time, which you never scheduled. Regarding the lack of info surrounding the merger, the transition process went much more quickly than the normal merger process. There were multiple contacts sent out during the summer to introduce the merger, by both companies, as the process moved forward. Regarding pricing, I see a conversation from September 8 inside the chat portion of the portal where Chelsea detailed our current prices to you. You responded to her message on October 5 and raised no objection to the pricing listed. Our updated pricing for the current year is slightly higher but still within the same ballpark as was quoted to you in September. In fact, when applying the discount detailed in the chat message, your price for your 2023 return prep was going to be lower than the price Chelsea quoted in September. My team has answered questions as they were asked and ample opportunity has been provided to schedule an appointment. My calendar stays open for consults year-round. We have done our best to communicate as much as we could throughout the entire process. We cannot force anyone to schedule an appointment with us to discuss their questions, you must take ownership of that yourself. If you don’t ask, we can’t help. If you don’t take our advice, we can’t help. CSA sent us all of their work because they couldn't keep up and we're burned out corresponding with the approximately 25% of accountants who have left the field since 2020. We take on a limited amount of work each year as demand exceeds capacity and we held a spot for your based upon the deposit you had present during our transition in taking over CSA's workload. You're welcome to reach out to me directly. I know our scheduling link is available to you in the portal you've been corresponding through.I apologize for any typos as I don't like to wait to respond to reviews and I'm away from my computer at an event at the moment.
