I used to come here once a week to study. The place doesn't get too crowded and you can get a table pretty easily. It's also usually quiet so you can get some work done. The coffee is just ok, as is the food, and servers can be a little curt sometimes. However, this is a good place to study.

MLK Weekend Concert Review Jan 19, 2014: My Father has performed with the Brotherhood Chorale for a decade and I had the honor of experiencing them in concert for the first time at the 10th Annual MLK Celebration Concert in Evanston's Nichols Concert Hall. This was the BEST concert performance of MLK weekend, and in a long time. We went to Cafe Mozart down the street to kill time before the concert. There I savored a piping hot White Chocolate Mocha made with Giradeli, and half a Mexican breakfast panini also made with as much fresh love and attention as my mocha. The ower/barista was social and intuitive; you cant beat being given the can to put as much whipped cream on your mocha as you want :) and if i didnt know any better I'd think he added extra picante to the panini after knowledge of my partner's Creole/Louisiana origin. Preventing the perfect rating would be the hipster feel of the venue which kinda lacked that optional hint of cozy elegance needed to fully escape the bitter windshield. On the plus the proximity of the layout allowed me to make a couple progressive social connections via overhearing the relative convos, so call me a hippy, my friends often do. I strongly recommend the Very Reasonably priced, hospital and convenient Cafe Mozart along with the annual MLK, Jr. Celebration Concert.

Good coffee and sandwiches but horrific music choices. Honestly, if I had known that Mannheim Steamroller type stuff was going to be playing for the entire time I was there I would not have decided to work from there. I'll be back for the coffee though!

Now I'm not usually a curmudgeon or negative ninny, but I had occasion to be when I stopped in to purchase breakfast and coffee at Café Mozart this morning. I have a list of six (6) damning points, listed below as items A through F. Let me preface my review by proclaiming my affection for, and familiarity with, quality coffee. A. The service was poor. I had mild difficulty understanding the person taking my order (not her fault) but then got snippy with me when I didn't hear her correctly. She did not assemble all my food on the counter, but let me walk away without my precious banana. B. The coffee is terrible. It is flat and bitter. It is really awful. C. You have to ask for cream. They have a table with cinnamon and sugar and straws, but no milk or cream. This is wrong. D. The bagels are average at best. They had two kinds of bagels, both of which were pretty much what you would see at your local chain grocery store. E. The floor was dangerously slippery. It is January and their floor is tile. It was wet. F. They had painted "Got Mozart?" on the wall. It's no real surprise to me they mixed up an 18th century composer and a dairy product, seeing as how they don't feature cow's gold very prominently at all. These complaints may seem petty, but Café Mozart does not market itself as a place to get cheap, convenient fare but instead as a local coffeehaus with quality food and drink. It did cut the mustard.
