Beware of this place! I first used them for my 2012 taxes and Crystal did an excellent job and I got more money than planned, so I became a repeat customer for my 2013 taxes. I had moved all the way to Chicago at this point so I asked if I could file with her via email, she said that was ok. I then emailed her my three W2s. Two of them were from two different employers, one I was employed with from April 2013 until October 2013, and another from October 2013 until the rest of the year. The other W2 was from January 2013 until April which was my unemployment W2 because I elected to pay no taxes due to being broke as hell and unemployed. I then got a tax return for $1,100.00 for federal and over $100 from state. I happily paid her the $90.00 fee and went and spent all the money.
By Summertime I got a nice letter from the State Of Illinois saying I was not supposed to get anything and they wanted their money back. I was in shock and figured it was a mistake. I called them and disputed the balance, they then showed me that not all my income for 2013 was reported only my latest employer and my unemployment W2s were submitted, UGH! I told Crystal and she could only offer an apology, and did not offer to pay the interest I accrued as a result of her mistake. I paid the money and moved on. You can go ahead and shake your finger at me and say I should have reviewed my paperwork, which I did when I first used her but at this point I trusted her and felt comfortable, I know, I should not have been comfortable but c'mon how many people get comfortable with a preparer they trust, especially since she was recommended by a good friend and she went to the same High School as me. Now my story gets worse.
August 2015, I get a nice letter from the FEDERAL IRS saying I owe them $692.00 for 2013! Crystal also screwed up my federal! I should have only gotten about $400 from 2013 not $1,100! I then asked her why she did not send in my middle of the year employer W2, she tried to pin it on me saying I did not send it to her, OH YEA, well I sorted through all my SENT emails from February 2014 and BAM! There was the original email I sent and low and behold the attachment was there with all THREE W2s! I forwarded that email to her and all she could offer was a lousy apology. I asked her to pay this all and she said she would not, fine, I then asked her to at least refund my $90 fee I paid her and she told me she could not do that, what kind of crap is that! I get screwed with this debt and she pays nothing! She also said she learned not to do anything by email anymore, that is crap, in this day in age you should be equipped to do people's taxes via email! If you can't close your business down, PLEASE! I now paid the IRS half of the $692.00 and entered into a payment agreement to pay the rest in 4 months. I have no idea where I will get this $342.00 in 4 months, especially since they are collecting 4% interest every month on it, which means I will be paying over $50 in interest! Does Crystal offer to pay that interest? Hell no she will not! Do not go here, if she messes up you are screwed!
Also, she put down my wrong address on the 2013 form, so when I go to make my payment to pay this balance I now have, I have to dig up the old paperwork and put in the wrong address again in order for the IRS to confirm my identity. She put apartment 2RSB instead of 2RFB. This is a nightmare that will not go away!
