An excellent doctor, so fully knows his field. He's retiring at the end of the year so I'm glad I squeaked in under the wire to get a thorough assessment of my thyroid nodules. He ultrasounded me at the appointment and was extremely reassuring and gave me a plan for follow up with another doctor for a year's time

It is my privilege to have been taken care of by Dr. Dutra and his team. I had extensive surgery and I had the best care I could have hoped and prayed for.

Dr. Dutra and his PA, Katie, are the best. I've been a patient since 2011 and have found them to be very genuine and outstanding in their knowledge, skills and compassion.

Dr. Dutra brushed me off so quickly. I came to Northwestern for another opinion regarding pain I've been experiencing for almost 17 months under my chin. Other ENTs have speculated that it is my submandibular gland and that I needed to see a salivary gland specialist who could investigate further and also determine if the gland needed to be removed. On the day of my appointment Dr Dutra called and asked if I could come in an hour early because he had to leave. I rearranged my work schedule and quickly drove down. Traffic was terrible and I spent over an hour trying to get to the hospital. When I was seen by him, Dr Dutra barely gave me a chance to explain he just assumed that I only wanted someone to give an opinion as to surgery. He quickly did an ultrasound of my submandibular gland and thyroid and just said the gland looks good no need for surgery. He said he didn't know why I was having pain and that maybe I should just follow up with a pain management specialist or a neurologist. I brought a folder with my cds and reports from CT scans, US and Sialogram. He glanced at a couple reports and that was it. I tried to ask questions but he just brushed me off and as he was walking out the door he told his assistant to copy my cds to have on file. He never performed an exam, never felt my neck or anywhere on my face, never looked inside my mouth, never did anything other than the quick ultrasound. And within 20 min he was gone. I sat in the room crying while his assistant took the CDs to copy. And I cried all the way home. I don't know why I keep thinking NWM is so superior. This is the 2nd time a doctor here has treated me this way. I thought you were a teaching and research hospital. I thought your doctors would put more of an effort into trying to help patients. But once again, that's clearly not the case!!!
