I have been a student of Deborah Bulgrin for over10 years. Throughout that time, I have been impressed by the breadth and depth of her knowledge of music styles from the Renaissance down to our own day. This broad understanding of music through the ages allows her students to perform as wide a spectrum of the sung repertoire as they desire. In addition to her musical expertise, Deborah has the positive attitude and the patience of a born teacher. She communicates a You can do it feeling to her students, even when they themselves may be discouraged. You can take this from someone who has known her for more than a decade: Those who want to significantly improve their singing skills can only benefit from having Deborah as their musical mentor.

Deborah is a phenomenal teacher and human being; we have worked together for nearly three and a half years now and I can't recommend her enough! When I contacted her for the first time, I had already been singing for many years, however, I felt as though I had hit a plateau with my voice that I just couldnt seem to work past on my own. That said, I was so nervous!! I have a lot of anxiety and meeting/working with new people is often extremely difficult for me. Luckily, Deborah is so kind, positive, and understanding - I felt at ease right away! Even better, in very few lessons she was able to pinpoint the issues I was having and we were able to efficiently move past them - I couldnt believe it! Since then, my voice has continued to grow tremendously and Ive had nothing but good experiences. Its obvious Deborah really cares about her students. Despite being busy with lessons, singing, and life, she is amazingly flexible and always does her best to work around any scheduling conflicts I may have. Shes also super easy to get in touch with (even though I, personally, am not so good at that). Deborah is also extremely considerate and encouraging - she always lets me know about interesting performances going on around the city and auditions/competitions she thinks are right for me. She knows about my anxiety and has put a lot of effort in helping me overcome it so I can better reach my performance goals. She is incredibly knowledgeable in practically every genre of music and she's helped me find beautiful repertoire that fits both my voice and ambitions. Honestly, I could just go on and on about all the help and guidance she's given me, but for now, Ill just say that working with Deborah is worth absolutely every penny and then some, no matter if you are just starting out or already a professional. Shes just fantastic and Im so glad I found her!
