It can be difficult for an instructor to distill decades of experience into a one-day seminar, but that’s exactly what Dr. Katz does with the Dentox live Botox training program. I took the class from him in Chicago and I liked the format a lot. The coverage of the basics like anatomy and how to properly use needles was kept to a very minimal amount since we were obviously all doctors or dentists and knew all of that stuff. Then the real fun began. After concise but thorough instruction on Botox, we gave it a try right away on a real person. I thought that was much more practical than a lengthy discussion of biochemistry or watching a video of someone else do it endlessly. Dr. Katz showed an ease with the subject that I believe is only possible with such a long time in the industry. He was the natural choice for me, and I can’t imagine how anyone who does their research could choose anyone else. I enjoyed the section on marketing my newfound skills as well. I’m actually a fairly good marketer and have a big social media presence as well as a large word-of-mouth business, so I appreciated the techniques. The marketing was right in line with what I would have expected would work based on my previous marketing work and experience. As a dentist today, you have to be present online and in the real world, and I’m pleased to be present with this new skill – which is already benefiting my practice.

I’ve been accused of moving along at a fast pace in life, so I usually hate training programs. They move so slowly and repeat the same things over and over. But I like the pace of the Dentox program that I took in Chicago. As it turns out, a brisk pace for the live Botox training course was necessary because there was a lot of material to cover. After skipping through a lot of details that any doctor or dentist would know anyway, Dr. Katz got right into teaching proper Botox injection uses and depth. He then focused on correcting small mistakes with new injections and he talked about liability issues, marketing and even provided the forms necessary to get consent and handle all the other things that the government requires of us. Back at my general medical practice, I put my skills to work immediately. During my first day back, I had two patients who mentioned that they were looking older. I recommended Botox to both of them, knowing that one was a good candidate and the other questionable. The good candidate asked for Botox immediately – I think that’s what she was hinting at when she mentioned looking old – and I did several injections on her forehead between her eyes. I was as impressed with the results as she was. And the regular clients who take me up on my Botox offer keep coming every day or two.
