Warm Belly Bakery

This is my new required stop when I visit Chicago. The cookies are delicious and super creative, and the staff is so friendly. (Also, the cookies travel well if you're a tourist and need something to bring home.)

The cookies are spot on: nice chew with a bit of crisp on the outside. Whoever said the cookies are nothing extraordinary needs to check their head. There are cereal based cookies (cinnamon toast crunch), s’mores, PB&J and the holy grail of flavors, ube (pronounces oo-bay) which is a sweet purple yam. Simple, done well can be extraordinary without glueing a candy bar and a donut to the cookie. What makes these great is that they are the right amount of sweet and not too much.

I went in for the CBD cookie but they weren’t selling it because of regulations. It wasn’t a totally bummer because they were FULLY stocked of all the other cookies! Awesome to walk into a bakery and they are full of goodies! If you haven’t had these cookies, be aware that they are pretty big! They are definitely filling and a good size cookie for the price! I got a s’mores cookie and ube cookie. Ube is such a pretty purple! Plus, it definitely tastes like ube. It’s not super sweet either. S’mores has a giant marshmallow on it which made me want it more. It’s on the sweeter side and tastes like S’mores so if you are a fan of that then this works for you!
