The new management has been great to work with, as they take initiative to address concerns. It looks like I have had a different experience than other reviews, as I have never had an issue getting ahold of them. Walking distance from what Downtown Barrington has to offer. I was planning on moving after my original lease was up, but with the changes the new management implemented, I ended up extending my lease. Very pleased with my experience here.

The management switched around March/May. They used to be engaged with the residents. The current management has since tinted the windows to the office since nobody is ever there. They are unresponsive and HARSH. I get more emails about petty rules, like no lights on the balcony, and towing cars than anything useful. You overlook empty car lots, a burrito express, and a gas station. No amenities aside from 2 grills and a lounge. Absent management. Expensive pricing. This is also the only apartment that I have felt they actively kick people out. Since the new management has taken over, they have immediately given notices for move out months in advance. Parking lot has 4 visitor spots by the way, so have fun getting messages about towing cars every week. I would stay away. Giving it 2 stars because the Barrington downtown is nice and at least the apartment is clean.

The lack of caring about the tenants (on a personal level) from new management is unbelievable. It went from feeling like a locally run company to a corporation. The door to the management office at the front is always closed. It hides the fact that they are there maybe half the time. Good luck trying to get in contact with them; the phone number sends you to a call center. This is far from "luxury".

I wish I would have known it was going to be sold before I renewed my lease. One of the reasons I chose 101 West was the good reviews so I feel obligated to leave one now. There is new management that is more worried about petty things the residents do and taking pictures than actual problems (fixing the broken elevator, broken fobs, water filters expired in common areas, etc). It is like a private equity company bought it.... little awareness of how they sound to the residents. Also, in other places I lived, there usually was a more "soft" approach at the beginning of new management (refreshments in the common area, celebrations thrown, etc.). This is not the case. I am going to look elsewhere.

This place was very good until it was recently bought and now under new management. Unfortunately, the previous reviews don't apply. Other renters may have had different interactions but I would no longer recommend and am not renewing.
