I am a former employee of K&R Distributing. I worked in the call centre, and I have seen many reviews, stating that the customers felt mislead on the phone. Now, when I say call centre, I mean a small room that fits three to five people. The call centre was left unsupervised for the most part, and we were held to strict standards and odd hours, in the hopes of getting as many appointments for demonstrations as possible.
This wouldn't be a problem in and of itself, apart from the customer complaints. Unfortunately, the owner is a rather high-pressure salesman. He tends to prioritise the opinions of his sales team, over that of the call centre. I'm not certain if he has reinstated the call centre since I worked there, but he had let us go because he felt we were inefficient.
When I expressed my opinion to the owner that I would like to see more communication between the sales team and the call centre, he decided to act offended, rather than take my opinion into account. I wanted to cut down on the deception the customers felt at the door, but Kirby is so busy indoctrinating its employees into thinking it's the best thing since the wax cylinder (Rainbow, Hoover, don't be blue! We've got a trashcan just for you!) that they don't care how they sell their product.
To clarify for anyone having trouble with them, if you receive a call, the person on the phone isn't to blame. They are underpaid, not receiving proper breaks, forced to work any holiday the owner thinks you'll answer the phone on, don't get sick time, and have a quota to meet before the end of the day. If you don't want it, joke about having leather floors and furniture. It'll get a laugh out of them, brighten their day a little, and you won't get revenge called by someone with a migraine and suicidal ideation in five minutes.
Another thing you can do, is politely ask to be put on THEIR do not call list. Because Kirby doesn't have commercials on TV or radio, they'll try to tell you they're exempt from the DNC list. It's what we were trained to do. I don't know if they maintain their own, anymore, but it should at least buy you until they purchase a new phone book for your area.
