The food and drinks were excellent. We had the Mix Grill and the short ribs are amazing. We also had the prime rib which was excellent. The bartender went above and beyond with his drink recommendations. We have been coming here for 20 years for my birthday and always received a free dessert, but I guess they dont do that anymore. The lava cake was delicious but doesnt have the lava inside anymore.

So, you think Roys. What you actually get pros: amazing service Cons: well this is quite a list Poor quality food Suburban cheap and cheerful menus Wine list with lots of stuff unavailable Sub par cuisine with 5 star prices The impression that youll get Roys but this Fine Asian restaurant at half the price. Unacceptable for brand and price. Fail. Will not return

We love Roys and this was the first time we got to bring the kids. They loved the kids menu which had quesadilla and veggies and ranch dip, and short rib or salmon for main course. They also loved our adult food including wild boar rangoons, steak and the misoyaki butterfish. We had the leave early because the jet lagged kids were getting fussy and they gave us the cookies from the ice cream sandwiched to go. The kids loved these so much we tried to buy more the next day but they graciously let us have some more. Will definitely come back so soon as we get to go back to big island.

I was so excited to celebrate our 26th wedding Anniversary at Roy's. We made reservations weeks in advance from home. The atmosphere was like a cafeteria. Not like the other Roy's in Maui or Los Vegas. I wanted macadamia encrusted fish (I have ordered it many time at Kimo's in Maui, which is excellent.) The fish was so dry and the nuts nearly burnt I sent it back. I got the surf and turf as a replacement. It was good but the gratin potatoes were not warm at all. They cut them from a casserole and serve them basically cold. The molton chocolate cake was over cooked and there was no molten chocolate. I just made it at home and it was perfection. Got our food in 10 minutes and were out in 55 minutes. Horrible Anniversary dinner experience. They did give us the cake as an Anniversary gift though. And they did take off the $49 that they charged for the fish that I sent back.

Weve been going to various Roys locations for the last 10 years, but this was our first time here. The food did not disappoint, as always. The ambiance was fine, although not terribly fancy considering the price tag. Overall we had a lovely dinner here with a large group of folks. Appetizers: We ordered the blackened ahi, wild boar wontons, Szechuan ribs, crab cakes, and Brussels sprouts. Of these, the crab cakes, wontons, and Brussels sprouts were the favorites. The crab cake was thick and flavorful; the wontons had a tasty juxtaposition between the savoriness of the boar and sweetness of the chutney, and the Brussels sprouts were crispy and had a nice charred flavor. The ahi was the most disappointing it was fine, but nothing special. Meals: The group ordered several meals, including the misoyaki butterfish (a favorite!), mekajiki, and the mixed grill. The butterfish was flavorful, tender, and utterly delicious. The mekajiki was also nice, albeit a bit heavier and less flavorful than the butterfish. The best thing about the mixed grill was the potato gratin otherwise the fish and meat that came with this entree were fine but nothing spectacular. Dessert: The group ordered several chocolate cakes and pineapple cakes. The chocolate cake never disappoints in delivering thick, gooey decadence with zing from the raspberry sauce. The pineapple cake was also delicious, just not my preference. Overall, this restaurant is consistent with the quality of other Roys locations and would be a solid place to have a nicer meal!
