Husband and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary here and it was an unforgettable experience. You can read food details from other reviews but I MUST talk about the vibe and service. Only three seatings at our 6pm reservation. It was so intimate and Morio and his staff would often come by to chat it up and drink with all the guests. We just flew in that afternoon and didn't have time to pick up drinks (BYOB) but they were so generous in providing a variety of ones they had in house. Never have I had a dining experience that felt so personal. I hardly leave reviews but had to for Morio's because one of the waiters said Morio is RETIRING in MAY!!! I was so saddened to hear this (happy for Morio of course as he's run this for 20+ years, according to the waiter) as I wanted to recommend as many people as I could to experience this gem of a place. My husband swore the waiter said the restaurant would close even earlier than May so SNAG A RESERVATION WHILE YOU CAN. We booked a month in advance and took the last reservation available on a weekday night. GO GO GO!

Definitely one of the best sushi and Japanese restaurants anywhere. Chef Morio is so very talented and it shows in his food. Remember to take you own booze and some for the Chef too. Food : 5/5 | Service : 5/5 | Atmosphere : 5/5 More

Amazing food, but more importantly AMAZING service. Call ahead to make a reservation a couple weeks ahead of time. It'll be worth it! We were able to snag a 8:30 PM reservation. Finding the restaurant itself was a little difficult as it is a small restaurant inside of a big building. I believe there was valet parking available, but we found street parking at that time. From start to finish, chef Morio and his team showed such hospitality and friendliness. Came over several times to make sure that we were happy and asked us our thoughts no each dish. Technically, this place was BYOB. However, we were lucky enough to get some alcohol that must have been untouched by previous guests. My husband and I each got the omakase, which was a mixture between cooked dishes and raw fish.- Hamachi Kama: So flaky and soft! Meat went really well with the sauce provided. The server was kind enough to point out that we almost left some meat before taking our plate. - Chawanmushi: Egg custard was so silky smooth and flavorful. - Sashimi: This included hamachi, salmon, and tuna. Fish was so soft and fresh. You can almost taste like you're in Japan!- Clams: This is the only dish where if you don't like super "seafoody" taste, then be wary. I don't mind it and actually found it a refreshing!- Fried Flounder: So crispy that you could literally eat everything!- Ama Ebi: Love the quality of this piece, one of my favorites.- Shimaji Nigiri: Light and tasty - Abalone: Very similar texture to scallop, but better! It was super flavorful and delicious. - Crab Nigiri: Absolutely my favorite piece of the night. It was so fresh and fun to eat. - Toro: Silky and soft like butter. Melts in your mouth type of experience. So good. Think about this all the time.- Uni and Ikura: Love the quality and freshniess of this as well.- Miso Soup: Came with the ebi head that was used earlier! Love the use of all the ingredients here.- Strawberry Tofu Dessert: So good and a light dish to end on. Perfect ending. - There was another nigiri piece that I forgot the fish name. But there were so many pieces to this omakase I feel like we got a great experience and our moneys worth! This place actually tops most of the places that I normally live in (Southern CA). Definitely memorable part of my vacation here in Hawaii. Thank you Morio and team!

Morio's is my favorite omakase restaurant. It has a chill, homey atmosphere and it never fails to be an enjoyable 2 hr dining experience. Morio and the staff are always super friendly, attentive, and fun to banter with. The food is always delish and Morio will always ask if people want more rounds in the case if people are still hungry.
