Definitely the best hardcore gym on the island. Came for a few days on a work trip and am so glad I dropped in. Dumbbells up to 150, and an old-school style feel with great music and everything you need as a bodybuilder. Awesome atmosphere even at night and even has a lot of machines that some gyms in the mainland don't have. Had a killer shoulder lift, definitely felt the intensity of the place. Highly recommended!

This is an old school awesome gym. Always playing the best tunes. There is always someone around to help you if need. Parking is great. The best in Hawaii.

The community here is very friendly and not just accepting but also genuinely accommodating. I really like that parking is never an issue - in addition to the shared lot with the Korean restaurant up the road, there is a parking structure even nearer but accessable from the road behind the gym too. I left the UFC Gym which has great classes and facilities primarily for their shortage of parking. Kakaako Fitness has a smaller non corporate gym vibe that I love. Plus my trainer of three years is exceptional ("functional trainer") at listening to me about pain points and developing my body in a balanced, optimal way.

The reason I'm so disappointed in this gym is because it has a lot of potential. I've worked out here for over a year now and only continue to work out here to see my trainer. This gym has not improved one bit in that time. A whole third of the gym is unusable because the equipment belongs to the powerlifters or the tactical strength guys. The equipment is not well maintained. The attachments are old and damaged, the weights aren't tightened down onto the dumbells, and none of the plates match. Machines have loose bolts and squeaky hinges, and the barbell sleeves barely rotate. The gym lacks some equipment that would really elevate it to a true bodybuilding gym, such as a decline bench, a lateral raise machine, etc. There is only one useable bench, one platform, and one squat box. The gym is always disorganized. They fired the only attendant who ever tidied up. Staff turnover here is frequent. The pro shop is overpriced even for a gym pro shop. Parking is horrible. You have to double park down the street, and the staff move your car to let others out. The owners are all personal trainers here as well and it seems they are more interested in that than running their gym. They never enforce any kind of conduct policy. I've seen barefoot people working out, and even a lady with her baby stroller (baby in it!) on the workout floor. This is a good gym with good vibes and I hope they will take this into account and improve. There are not many decent options in Honolulu.
