Paradise Restaurant Supply

It’s a convenient place if you’re looking for kitchen supplies you can’t find at Walmart or Target and you live on the Eastern side of the Big Island. Yes the people who work there are weird and yes some of the products can be pricey (but it’s not really that much pricier than other places) but honestly the products I have bought from them last and are good quality. My friend works for the guy and he likes him. To be fair my friend himself is very weird and honestly you probably won’t actually see the owner. The lady is chill she’s serious but as long as you’re not too annoying she’s cool. She snitched on me to my mom when I snuck down there to buy a whisk though. Anyways what I’m saying is don’t go there to ask questions just do your research before entering. Noticed some people buying knives in the reviews. Honestly just research and buy online. Or go to a different store. Their other products are 👌 and honestly I’d bet the knives are pretty decent but I wouldn’t risk it.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The owner told us we were banned from all his stores. We pulled out our phone to calculate some numbers and he immediately yelled “NO PHOTOS”. After we told him we needed to use the calculator he said we were banned and sweared at us. This store is run by mediocre, unprofessional staff. Don’t waste your time going into their new location.

DO NOT SHOP AT THIS STORE. The owner “Chef Jeff” is sincerely the rudest, most unprofessional, downright obnoxious retail employee/owner I’ve ever encountered. My son 19, daughters 20, 12 & 9 entered the store to purchase a knife for my 81 year old mother. First, Jeff spoke at me in a very loud, chastising voice telling me I had chosen the wrong knife listing numerous reasons as to my poor choice. He then chose the knife he stated I wanted to buy. While getting the knife from the shelf he educated us on how he owns the only (open to the public) restaurant supply store in Hawaii- LIE! He then proceeded to to tell us he owns 600 stores, lives in Japan, he is the ONLY person in all of JAPAN permitted to make or sell a knife and I was very lucky to be purchasing the last one available. REALLY??When my son asked if he could demonstrate the sharpness of the knife, (there was a test knife in the case) he yelled at my son stating ALL Japanese knives are sharp. My son shared we recently had a poor experience with an unsharp but similar looking knife. Chef Jeff said “well it must not be Japanese!” I told the owner we would purchase the knife and turned to my son asking if he was ok with it? My son said yes I just wish we knew if it was sharp. The owner yelled get out. All of you are banned from ALL of my stores (All 600?!?!?) he said how rude and disrespectful of my son to ask a question, stating we don’t tolerate your type in Hawaii??? Does he mean the inquisitive type? He then said he could call the police. It’s illegal for us to ask questions!!! My nine year old was in tears saying she didn’t understand why he (the owner) treated us like this. This man is certifiable. DO NOT BLESS HIM WITH YOUR PATRONAGE- He doesn’t need it anyway. He is a world traveling, 600 store owning, screaming lunatic who frightens children and yells at customers for wanting to be informed about their purchase.
