Permanent nerve damage without warning. I have had nerve damage for 2 and a half years now. I have not felt the right side of my lip, gum, or cheek normally since I had my procedure with this doctor. I went back in October 9th of 2020 to get my wisdom teeth removed. I had a consultation with Dr. LaBanc to get three of the four teeth out. Never did he mention I had a high chance of nerve damage or that I wouldn't recover from this surgery. Ten to twenty minutes before I went in to get two coronectomies and a normal wisdom tooth removed, LaBanc sat with my mother and me. He told us that there was nothing to worry about for the procedure. My mother warned him about how she is sensitive to anesthetics and that I may possibly be as well. He waved her off telling her I will be fine. After my procedure, I woke up in a wheelchair and walked into my aunts car with my mother. Weeks later, I constantly went to his office because I couldn't open my mouth or even talk for a while. He gave me popsicle sticks to ajar my mouth each day and also would use a needle to test my numbness in my face. Once again, he told me the cells were waking up and to give it 6-8 months for full recovery. He never mentioned the possibility of the right side of face never waking up. I thought I was having a normal recovery journey until he mentioned I had a complicated third molar after the procedure was already done. I was excused for college for recovery but am still suffering from the same exact symptoms I had then. I went back to Dr. LaBancs office after about ten months from not seeing any progression in my lip, cheek, and gum. He then tells me I am not likely going to feel my face normally again since it's been a while. When I rephrased his words of 6-8 months of recovery he told my mother, he cites that he never said such a thing and that I was aware of this procedures risk this entire time. It will be three years in October where I am now living with permanent nerve damage due to this doctor never telling me about these risks to begin with.
