image This program definitely isn’t suited for everyone. Bridges of Hope is a 6 month program (at the least) for substance and alcohol abuse. They have multiple locations set up and the majority of the campus’ are run and maintained by the residents. However, these programs are definitely not for everyone and should be strictly considered before entering. Definitely do your research and call to get a rundown of what the program entails before you enter yourself or send someone to one of these programs. If you are looking for substance-abstinence, these programs will work fine for you. But if you are looking for a deeper rehabilitation program, they’re not suitable. There isn’t any on-site therapists or counselors, and the “therapy” programs in place aren’t suited to the specific individual. Most of the work is Big Book related, and it’s generalized for the resident population as a whole. There’s no assigned therapists for the residents, and no specific group therapy. You will find yourself working in various physical work groups during the days as well. Groups are mainly led by residents too and i felt that sometimes there wasn’t really a specific direction that these groups were going. I’ve been to other 3 month intensive residential programs with assigned therapists, therapy modules, group therapy, and family therapy as well. I would say that these 3 month programs were way more beneficial to the specific individual recovery process, because you get down to the root of the problems instead of just learning to abstain from substance use. You also had access to assigned licensed therapists who we’re there to help you work on/through your individual struggles and provided a venue for you to open up and work through the issues that got you to a treatment facility to begin with. I felt a lot more work was completed in these other programs. I actually ended up leaving this program after only about 2 weeks in, because i realized that my need for individualized therapy and other specific needs for my recovery weren’t going to be met at this program. This program might be suitable for what you need, and it’s a rehabilitation program in its own, but it’s definitely not suitable for everyone. If you’re needing much more intensive treatment, i would recommend to find another program that provides counseling and therapy, as well as maintaining abstinence. I’m definitely not saying this isn’t a good program, and there’s most likely been people to benefit from it. There just seems to be better options out there from what I’ve personally experienced. I find that programs that include regular onsite therapy end up being more beneficial long-term. Big Book work is fine, but now-a-days, you really need a program that can help with your specific target needs, and something that is individual specific versus generalized or crowd specific.

image Bridges of Hope in Louisville is the best program my husband and I and our son have ever experienced. Our son has suffered with heroin addiction for 6 years; and he found a peace and understanding of himself at Bridges of Hope that he had found no where else. If you are thinking of this facility for rehabilitation, all you have to do is turn on to the property to feel the excellent standard of care provided. Go for a visit to see a program that works and meet a truly dedicated staff who care!
