This is a wonderful place. Going back to get your GED in your 40's is scary. But the wonderful teachers there help so much. Especially Mrs. Russell, she has never given up on me. It's taken me little longer than most to get where I am right now in the program. But she makes a point to find different ways to teach things so everyone can learn in different ways. She truly cares and is just as excited as you are when you pass a test. Wonderful place

I only took 2 of the GED classes here before I was bullied to the point of having to leave and certainly not wanting to come back. My first class the GED teacher made rude comments about my learning disability which is extremely innapropriate espeically for a program like this. It was clear she was trying to offend me. I spent the last half of class crying while trying to finish my work. My second class was when she went off on me infront of everyone. It wasnt provoked. I was having a panic attack because of personal reasons and class was almost over so I decided to sign out of class. After I walked out of the room I noticed my phone was dead and I needed it to call my ride. The library was closed and I even walked around the building to find somewhere to charge my phone but couldn't because no other rooms were open and the place was empty. It was 6 so I didn't want to walk around trying to find a place to charge my phone because I wasn't sure what all was open at that time. I didnt want to go back into the room and disrupt the rest of the class but I had no other option or I wasnt going to be able to go home. I was already crying sitting in there with my phone plugged up but I was luckily able to text my ride when my phone started working which took a min. When I was sending my last texts the GED teacher said "I dont have those computers in here so you can sit and play on your phone" which was a rude comment. She didnt come up to me and ask me what I was doing or even to get off my phone. I told her I wasnt playing on my phone. She then came towards me and started to yell at me. Belittling me infront of the entire class saying that I dont take this seriously and all I do is play on my phone and play in the halls. Which neither of those things are true and are ridiculous to accuse me of. I had only been to class TWICE. I had gotten a good bit of work done in those 2 two days even with my learning disability making everything so confusing. Either way I saw everyone else using their phones during class and she wouldnt say anything. I even saw a girl watching youtube videos while she was teaching the class and she didnt say anything to her. I had already signed out of class. She had no right to attack me especially infront of a room of people. She had no right to tell me if I should be on my phone or not unless I was making noise which I wasn't. She got up in my personal space and was literally in my face while i was sobbing. She never gave me time to explain myself and she didnt ask me to step out into the hall. She wouldnt stop berading me and she was in my face so I asked her to stop talking to me which yes I know is rude but I was having a panic attack and she could see that I was sobbing and she didnt care and continued to try and offend me saying really harsh things for no reason. I have no respect for that and none for her for how she was treating me. She then told me to leave the building. If I hadnt gotten my phone on in time I couldve been stranded without a ride. All I said to her was that she was being innapropriate and rude. Her aggression came out of nowhere and it was disgusting. I am now so heartbroken because it took so much courage to try and get my life together and graduate and now I have to go somewhere else. A month of time wasted. And when this issue was brought up I was told theres two sides to the story and they told me other places I could take classes. That's not fair to me. I was treated innapropriatly and nothing was going to be done about it. Im leaving this here so something can be done about it. People take GED classes for many different reasons. Some being people have to drop out because of their learning disabilities and mental disorders. Its not okay that she thought it was acceptable to make fun of me for mine not even an hour into my first class. Also she constantly complained about how much she had to work to the students. I dont see how catoosa county would want someone like her representing their GED program. Completely unprofessional
