After the 2-5 minute check that the doctor did he said my daughters eyes were fine and that her nose was the reason her eye seemed to cross. He called it an "optical illusion". He told me multiple times that she was fine. I took her to another eye specialist to get a second opinion and my daughter was diagnosed with accommodative esotropia and she requires bifocals. The doctor that diagnosed her said if we would have not brought her into get treatment her brain would have slowly shut off that eye causing blindness. Very unhappy with Dr. Mark Bordenca. He did not take his time with my child.

I will not be bringing my child o this office again. I came in for a follow up for my preemie because that is protocol for preemies to have a follow up 6 months - year after leaving NICU. When I spoke to the lady in the back who asked what's the reason for the visit today, I told her this. She stated that her referral states " concerns for lazy eye", which is totally incorrect. I said are you sure you have the right child? She confirmed her name and DOB. I asked for a copy of the referral for reference to mention this error to my child's PED. She says sure no problem, when you check out you can get it. She dilates my child's eyes, we wait for 20 minutes, which is apart of the process. We get called and the doctor comes in and I mention the error for the "lazy eye" concern. The check up was like 2-3 minutes he looks at my child's eyes with his tools and says "PERFECT, see you in 2 years". Then he goes "the way her nose is, slanted. Makes it look like she could have a lazy eye" Another false statement. This is a eye specialist, not a face structure specialist ........................... When these doctors go to school, they should teach communication. Ways to speak to clients/patients. That makes no sense. Very rude Dr. Bordenca. I confirmed that the referral states "30 weeker preemie follow up" with PED after this uncomfortable visit. Which means they probably had the wrong child file.

Lawrenceville Office, Dr. Mark Bordenca: Thank you so much for accommodating my 7-year olds same day appointment but I have to admit that I will never visit your office again. For starters, the customer service is horrible (I hate to use this word but its the only accurate word to describe your service). I interfaced with four people today and not one of them greeted me, NOT EVEN THE DOCTOR. I am actually about to look back into my notes so that I can locate his name. But first, this is each representatives initial interaction with me: Blond check in Lady: You checking in? Clinical Assistant (or lady that gives basic eye exam and eye drops): Calls my daughters name- What are we seeing you for today? she never addressed my daughter Ophthalmologist: Walks in and said you ready? This was unbelievable Check out Lady- When will he see you back? Not one person said, hello, how are you or have a good day- the doctor never looked at me, he never introduced himself and he was in the room with us for all of about 50 seconds (I am not overexaggerating). He didnt ask if I had any questions and assumed that I understood everything that he was saying. (I did because my uncle is an ophthalmologist but what if I was uneducated) He told me to return in one year and this is when it got weird. The doctor states that my daughter must return in a year and my daughter says, a year?! And as I paraphrase, the doctor goes on to say that he knows that glasses are fashionable and all the girls come in pretending they cant see well so that they can get them. My daughter goes on to say in her innocent 7-year-old voice, I dont want to come back in a year and I dont want glasses. He thought my daughters reaction, a year!? was her signifying that she wants glasses but in actuality, she didnt. Sir shes seven and isnt worried about glasses! It was a weird exchange and mind you, this exchange and the eye exam were all done in the 50 seconds that he was in the room. One thing that really pissed me off was the clinical assistant to physician, who dropped the eye drops in my daughters eyes, (we saw her before the doctor and had to wait 20 minutes before the eyes would be fully dilated). Evidently, the drops burn a little bit. I was unaware of this until she just drops the eye drops in my daughters eyes without preparing her for what to expect. So now my daughter is freaking out because her eyes are burning. I mean what kind of pediatric eye office is this?! We had a horrible experience! I gave one star because of this offices efficiency with time. We were out of there within 30 minutes. In my opinion, a speedy appointment sucks if the office is inefficient with customer care & service and inefficient with building a rapport with each patient. We saw Dr. Mark Bordenca

Thankful I found this place! I called every pediatric location for an appointment. Everywhere I called couldnt get us in for another 2 months. Lawrence location was able to give me a next day appointment. My 3 year old has her first eye exam. The doctor was good with kids. Ended up getting glasses & only took 6 business days to arrive through mail. Couldnt recommend this place enough.
