Rayo de Sol

Rayo is doing amazing work in Nicaragua! We traveled to Matagalpa and got to see first hand how this organization is making an impact. This community based ministry is helping children and families support themselves and become a stronger community.

It is awe-inspiring to hear how such a small ministry is making such a huge, meaningful impact on so many people's lives. Resources are used wisely and prayerfully. I pray God will continue to bless Rayo in its efforts to help families break free from the cycle of poverty in Nicaragua.

I learned about Rayo de Sol at an event in Atlanta and was moved by their passion and dedication to their mission in my country. They have created a connection between the community in Georgia and rural areas of Nicaragua that are striving with their help. They exceed my expectations, as they are creating economic development and educational programs while maintaining the ideals of their ministry. I have been impressed with the transparency in their fundraising, organization and impact of their work. I highly encourage others to get involved, volunteer, donate or be part of their trips to Nicaragua.

We went to Nicaragua (Matagalpa) and saw first hand the positive impact this organization is having in the schools, among the children, and within families. Children are encouraged to remain in school through providing nutritious meals, mentoring and tutoring, teaching the teachers, and providing instruction to develop vocational skills. We saw many examples of love, patience, and understanding shown by the staff. The gospel message is shared in the active Young Life groups. Parental participation in their children’s education is strongly encouraged. Using natural resources through improved gardening techniques is taught. Rayo de Sol was instrumental in implementing water retention and filtering systems that have provided families with safe and clean water. Employment skills like sewing, baking, and wood working are taught and then Rayo de Sol has provided resources to establish small businesses.
