If you find yourself in Folkston to watch trains, go swamping, or just passing through, stop here if you want hospitality (in all capital letters). We were one of those tourist couples that saw the great reviews and needed a bite to eat but failed to see on the door that Dixie was serving 3 days a week. Well that didnt stop us illiterate Northerners and in we walked that Saturday afternoon when she wasn't serving. Dixie was incredibly gracious and after chatting us up she prepared an impressive and delicious set of chicken salad sandwiches and pimento cheese apps on the side. Triple filled my sweet tea. Holy cow. We didnt feel so bad when another equally illiterate couple came in behind us and got the similar treatment. Check the place out, ideally when the sign says theyre serving food. They are the nicest. (Next time I come back Im bringing checked luggage so I can stock up on the tasty-looking spreads and honeys but theres a ton of other stuff in that delightfully eclectic store.)
