Building our dream home with K&N construction was one of the worst experiences of our lives. We chose them because we were told they build a solid house; Wayne had a background in framing. We quickly learned that working with him before the contract was signed was a completely different experience than after. Wayne claims to build a custom home, but he charges you a custom house build cost, but his allowances are what he uses for his spec homes. We were over budget on almost everything we picked out; from lighting to flooring to bathroom accessories. We even went over budget on items you would assume would come with a house build (such as a driveway, septic tank, and even lot clearing!). He claimed to build according to the plans, which showed a driveway, but said that it was not covered.
We've had several issues since moving into the house, and it has been a huge headache to get his subs to come back to the house to fix any of these issues. I'm still waiting on the flooring subs to come fix nails sticking through our floors (it's been over a month since contact).
I strongly believe we were taken advantage of because of our situation. My husband was working overseas as a contractor, so I was dealing with most of this stuff on my own (he would often have to make phone calls though). It is very clear that Wayne has no respect for women, and he has no respect for the military or anyone that works as a contractor for the military. Wayne needs to hire a project manager that has customer service skills. He needs to stick to building houses and never interact with his customers.
I've posted pictures of a mold issue we had to deal with (that did NOT seem to concern him at all). Our back yard that was half seeded/half sod (I did request the back yard be seeded, but not like this). We have seams in all of our trim work that were not sanded down. Since moving in our dishwasher has a leaking valve that has ruined our floor and our island, and the dishwasher has yet to be fixed (waiting on a valve that had been ordered but arrived damaged, and was not re-ordered).
