I recently had the requirement to fully replace the roof on my home as well as the roofs of two Japanese style structures in my Japanese Garden behind my home. It should be noted that these buildings have wooden shake type roofs. Coincidentally, I had also recently received an ad flyer from K. Simon Construction located just outside of Atlanta, Ga. I noted that in addition to remodeling and other home improvement work, they also offered home roofing services. Having researched them on the internet, I took the opportunity to contact them regarding my requirement. Two representatives came to my home and surveyed the project and advised that they would provide an estimate within a few days. They returned with their estimate, and we discussed the technicalities of the job at hand. I provided them with the details of my insurance company whom they quickly contacted and initiated the claim on my behalf. My insurance company sent an adjuster who prepared a 10 page survey detailing his estimate of the costs. His report reflected a lower figure than what K. Simon had proposed. K. Simon responded with the justification for their pricing, and the insurance Company agreed to a supplemental payment. The quality of the materials recommended by K. Simon exceeded what other roofers would generally use, e.g. a 30 year roof versus a 25 year roof.
K. Simon had the roofing materials delivered to my home, and a few days thereafter a team of 13 workers appeared and completed not only the house, but also the two buildings in the garden. The area was thoroughly cleaned prior to their departure, and all debris removed from the property. All of this in 95 degree weather. For the record, the wooden roofs exceeded my expectations as each shingle must be measured, trimmed and nailed individually to the structure. The buildings were originally built to strict Japanese authenticity, and the replacement roof was identical to the original. The installers weren’t merely roofers, but rather were craftsmen in the true sense of the word.
I was extremely pleased with the work and on site management of the entire project from beginning to end. The K. Simon team execution of this project was excellent, and I would heartily endorse them for anyone considering a new roof or other home improvement.
