R.I.P. Harolds. I used to visit Atlanta quite often on business and Harolds was my favorite place to eat. The food was great, the service was great, everything about this little hole in the wall kept me coming back time and time again over the years. I hate that I will hot have this experience again.

My grandmother used to take my brother and I there all the time before Mr. Harold passed away, and the food was delicious THEN. Everyone ate there, lawyers, judges, etc. You could barely get in the door. Now the Brunswick stew(used to be my favorite menu item w/ cracklin bread) is mostly meal or grits or whatever they're using as filler! The former owner must be spinning in his grave! The last time I ate there was 18 yrs. ago and I still hate what they've done with the food! Go to Daddy D'z or Fred's barbeque for REAL good food!

confess, yankees! have you ever had savory corn bread with crunchy crust and home-made cracklins, accompanied by a lip-smackin brunswick stew? they smoke whole hams, instead of butts, for the pork sandwiches and toast the white bread on a charcoal grill. the servers are very fast and friendly. there's just not enough servers at lunch which is always packed.

I have been eating at Harolds bbq for my entire life. I can't see how people have such bad things to say about it. I just love their brunswick stew and cornbread. I will admit sometimes the chopped pork is hit or miss, just depending where they are at on the hog. But I have always left there with a full belly. I guess you just have to try it for yourself. If you go on Friday lunch, you will see half the GSPatrol officers in Atlanta, and half the politicians from the Capital building.
