Kumquat Mae

Not a very pleasant experience. Staff/owners did not seem to appreciate business. I have no problem not being a repeat customer

I love Kumquat Mae! The vegetarian selections are just lovely. My only disappointment is that they no longer offer wine.....

Good concept, poor execution. Menu online is not actual menu. Several items have been removed (corned beef hash, salmon cake Benedict, etc.). We came for the cbh, so that was a bummer. Ordered double espresso, got a watered down coffee that was less potent than the regular coffee my wife ordered. It was bad. Asked twice for cream for my wife's coffee, and eventually had to walk inside myself to get it. They brought my wife a water with her coffee, but not me - only the watered down "double espresso." For the second time, I had to walk inside to ask for it myself. Waiter was a nice young kid who didn't know the menu, couldn't remember what we ordered, and told us he was being asked to do other stuff and that's why he was forgetting things. We actually felt bad for him. My wife's "over medium" eggs arrived with broken yolks that were solid. Mmmm. Positives: 1. Great setting. We sat outside and it was really nice. Inside looked nice, too, when I went in to get cream and water. 2. Staff was very kind, just not functioning well. 3. My chicken and waffles, despite coming with cold syrup and without the pecans advertised on the menu, was delicious. It really was a great dish, and the saltiness of the pimento cheese balanced things out well. We used to go to KM's in Watk, until they started having problems with turnover and consistency. After today's experience, including seeing an empty restaurant on a Saturday morning, it looks like those problems are back. Bummer; we wanted to like it, but couldn't.
