Though such a glamorous appearing tavern, I was most disappointed with the food I was served. I dont believe it was because we came to visit during lunch time and perhaps the food was rushed to be served. It is evident that going here for the experience and maybe drinking are the only thing you may want to come here for, definitely not the food. The pictures appeared very appetizing, but the actual flavor does not reflect it at all. It could just be the options we chose but they all definitely did not meet our expectations. Grilled Chicken Teriyaki 1/5 I have never been served teriyaki with grilled bell peppers like this and I did not find it any helpful in adding flavor to this dish. I dont know if it is some modern twist on teriyaki, but it is a culinary failure. Apart from an underwhelming taste from the teriyaki sauce, the chicken was bland and did not take in any flavor from the already poorly made sauce. The portion size was really shocking, as I would barely have considered that a meal. Though everyones appetite differs, this portion size was excessively small. Even fancy restaurants nearby serve more than this. Grilled Meatloaf Dinner 2/5 This dish almost passes as decent. If only the meat and potatoes both had more salt and flavor, it could actually make for a delicious dish. Adding a wine to the mushroom sauce or derivating it from a beef broth would have elevated this dish as well. Wings 1/5 Nothing special. Your average low-quality wings that did not even have a good taste. Same ones you can get for much cheaper elsewhere. Really quite disappointing.

First, my wife and I both have LONG experience living in multiple parts of Asia. So we ordered the Thai Chicken Salad. It had absolutely NOTHING to do with Thai flavors. Thais are masters at combinations of the basic flavors of sweet, salty, spicy etc. This had NONE of these. The chicken was nice, but it was plain Western Roast chicken where the Thais would have marinated and basted it with a dozen different ingredients. I mentioned this shortcoming to the waiter, who was respectful. But he told me that their head chef "was from the Philippines." I think that was meant to "blunt" my criticism. Sadly, that culture, interesting as it is, has NOTHING to do with Thailand. At my request the waiter brought me some addition dressing which helped a bit. But still nothing remotely Thai. Mind you, the salad itself was fresh and crispy where appropriate. It's just that the flavoring was not even the two stars I gave it. By all means try Village Tavern, just don't order the Thai Chicken Salad unless my description appeals to you!
