Marco and his team worked on a home we had just purchased in August and September 2021. The team was all very nice and Marco was generally responsive to texts and calls. Upon completion of the project Marco insisted that we give a 5-star review.
Unfortunately, Marco’s team did not provide 5-star work. As the project was being completed his team was very sloppy and were not respectful of the property—they left nails in the driveway, left food out, helped themselves to our tools, spilled paint in our newly painted garage (which was never cleaned up), and left splattered concrete material all over our kitchen. They had to redo several things I noticed were not done correctly including a wall that was not built straight, gaps between walls and ceilings, a shower floor that didn’t drain, and a very poorly painted room. Each time I noticed something not done well enough for my standards Marco told me I was being too picky.
We also had several issues with Marco charging us for tools and other items outside the scope of ‘materials’ and simply throwing away about $1000 of unused materials. When I brought these issues to Marco’s attention, I was informed that “that’s construction.”
In the months since Marco and his team left, we have had numerous issues with the quality of the work. Our shower floor was not properly sloped and still does not drain well—we had a plumber come in and he immediately noticed the problem and confirmed that the floor was not done correctly. We will have to have the floor redone. There were numerous chips in the floorboards they installed, and we have had to recaulk the space between the ceiling and the walls they constructed 3 times. We had electrical problems that stemmed from our living room lights not being correctly attached to the panel. The electrician who redid the work said that the work was a definite fire hazard because they had basically just taped wires together.
I regret having Layout Construction handle our renovation. I was consistently frustrated as the work was getting done because of the messiness of the team, the quality of the work, and the problems with inaccurate invoices. Now I’m frustrated because of all the things that we have to redo because Layout did such a poor job. You must get a quote from these guys! Marco, William, and the whole team at Layout Renovation do a superb job, whether the renovation is painting a small room or a full kitchen or bath do-over. They listen carefully, do not try to oversell; offer useful and insightful suggestions, and follow through on every detail.
