I took my bridal party to Kiki's for my wedding day. Apparently Kiki's does makeup and nails, and a company called Salon Saige does hair. Regardless, as someone from the outside, it's all the same.
My experience was filled with some really good and some bad:
On the positive side- makeup was a great experience and I would definitely recommend using Kiki's for makeup:
- I LOVED Kristen and the work Kiki's did on my makeup- I thought she did a phenomenal job with my makeup and my girls makeup. She was so pleasant and did excellent work and I would come back to her in a second. All the makeup in my pictures looked phenomenal too!
- Everyone was very nice, which was much appreciated!
On the negative side, the hair experience was not great:
- On the hair front, almost all of the girls hair either fell down or needed to be recurled within a few hours (so we ended up having to fix most of the girls hair before the ceremony) and we weren't even outside in the wind before that.
- Most importantly, I had a real problem with the way that end of the day went. We were ahead of schedule when the ladies that were doing hair for the bridal party decided to call someone else in for their appointment early. I didn't realize that this meant that the other client would arrive before we were done, around 12PM when we had a fully planned out schedule until 1PM. Even though at that point we were running ahead, this resulted in 2 problems:
1. My mom had to wait to have her hair done after she was rushed back to Kiki's from doing wedding day prep at our site. She waited while the woman who was not in our party was given a cut.
2. I needed some changes to my hair a little before 1PM and I was flat out told that my hair stylist couldn't do anything because she was working on rinsing out the other gal's hair. Luckily, Kristen smoothed it over and asked the other client if she had time to wait. However, we still left after 1, and it was upsetting to me that the immediate response was to tell me that I had to wait, when it would put us behind schedule on my wedding day to do so.
Unfortunately, this leads me to recommend that wedding parties not come into the salon for hair. I did not think it was appropriate to try to squeeze someone else in during the time that was already reserved and scheduled for my party- I paid a lot of money for a service that ended up stressing me out way more than it should have, and while I know brides (including myself) are less easy going on the day of, that's part of the reason why we're willing to pay more- we know we're going to be high maintenance and expect there to be an above and beyond effort to make us pleased with the service we receive.
I did email Kiki after the experience, and she did apologize profusely and had the owner of Salon Saige email me, but in the end, apologies are free and I paid a lot of money for something that really stressed me out on my wedding day.
