Ray Mathews - State Farm Insurance Agent

Be careful dealing with this agency. Make sure you get all information you need and understand. We had a renters police on a house with them. Initial policy showed an amount of $10,000 n contents. We called back and informed the agent that our furnishings and the RENTERS goods we much more valuable than that and upped the coverage to $100,000 and at a cost of several hundred dollars in policy premium At no time did the agent tell us that the renter's goods were not covered! When the policy arrived we did not read through all 25-30 pages where the part about renters responsibility was in the last few pages. We found out from the insurance underwriter after the house burned down and almost all good were lost. When I spoke with Ray Matthews he said I should have read the policy and the agent, Latoya denied that my wife and I had told her(we both did at separate times) the reason for raising the coverage. Granted we should have read all the fine print. BUT having been in business for over 30 years where we rented warehouse space to multiple tenants to store goods: we always made a point of notifying them upon signing a lease that our policy did not cover their goods. I would have thought the agent who was told more than once why we raising the coverage would have given us the same curtesy.

I want to give a huge shout out to Latoya! Im in a very unique and difficult situation with open claims and my current homeowners insurance company not renewing policies this year. My policy expires this month. Most places I contact either dont return emails and voicemails with my pleas for assistance and guidance, or I receive a quick reply that theres nothing they can do. The last thing I need is highly unaffordable force-placed insurance from my mortgage company. Latoya called me this morning in response to an email I sent to this office yesterday. As shes needed more info, shell call me and says shell find answers to her questions and shell call me back, which she does each time. I dont know what the outcome will be as she is still working on a few things for me, but Im extremely impressed and grateful for her willingness to take on my challenging situation and while trying to find a policy for me. I highly recommend using Latoya as your insurance agent!!
