    island Palate catered our daughters wedding on 12/16/23. Chef Jose and his staff provided a delectable meal (jerk chicken, mahi with salsa, mashed sweet potatoes and green beans). The meal was seasoned to perfection and their service was top notch! We were supposed to have an outdoor meal, but the weather had other ideas.Chef Jose and his team adapted to serve the meal for 40 in tight quarters of our cottage. They helped us optimize seating and provided decor that was lovely. Beyond a lovely meal and service, Chef Jose and his team were professional, timely, friendly and helpful. we enjoyed the meal and their service. They made the rehearsal dinner a beautiful and memorable evening. I thank them and highly recommend their company.

    This company is absolutely fabulous! They catered my rehearsal dinner of 40 people and guests were begging for the recipes. The jerk chicken, mahi, salad, sweet potatoes, and green beans were delicious. We had to change location last minute due to weather. They arrived early and designed the decorations as well as table placement. I cannot thank Chef Jose and Shirley enough. I would recommend them for any event, rehearsal dinner, or wedding. They are professional and an absolute delight to work with throughout the process.

    The MOST UNPROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD.This one is a doozy. Where do I even start?In October 2022 I used the online platform Table At Home to locate a private chef to cook for myself/boyfriend and our two best friends for New Years Eve. For those not familiar, Table at Home is basically a spot where you (the client) can put in your request details (occasion, food preference, date etc) and they will send out that request to all the chefs in the area that participate in the online platform and see who accepts the position. From there I get a notification of a proposed chef where I can view his profile, look at a proposed menu based on what I initially requested. I can then decide to accept the chef or reject and move on.Chef Jose Metullus of Island Palate Catering was matched with me. I looked at his reviews from previous clients and also loved the menu he suggested so I decided to go head and book with him. I paid IN FULL $800 a month and a half prior to the date. Fast forward to a couple days and the New Year's Eve I'm texting with him making sure he doesn't need anything specific other than my kitchen. He responds no he has what he will need. The day of he lets me know a manager, server and chef will be coming. In my mind I thought it would be a chef in addition to him because he never said he would not be there and since I booked HIM why would I think he wouldn't show. Well, that evening the manager, Sherlie, who is also his wife, and a server arrive. I'm talking with Sherlie in the kitchen just getting to know her when I learn she is Chef Jose's wife. She then proceeds to tell me in casual convo how they have a daughter and she also loves to cook. I then ask her how it is to have a chef for a husband and get all these great cooked meals to which she responds it is great but the schedule can be demanding and "for example a regular client of his texted him last minute to cook for NYE so he is there and not here"WAIT WHAT?! So the Chef I paid for not only just no showed on me but NEVER ONCE mentioned he wouldn't be and still took my money for a service he didn't even provide because someone else texted last minute?! My mind was blown. Not only that when I reached out to him he said he was sending another "chef" to fill in and when this "chef" arrived, Sherlie is giving him orders like telling him to wash his hands and how prepare things. I'm sorry but no chef should need direction like that. It was so obvious he had no idea what he was doing and was definitely not a chef. His wife ended up sending this guy home because he was so lost. She ended up cooking our food. The food was fine but DEFINITELY NOT worth $200 a plate and after everything they only ended up giving us back $216. So I paid about $575 for a non chef to cook our average meal. The experience was THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL encounter I have ever had. Not only that, Chef Jose nor his wife were apologetic in the least.I honestly can't believe this is how they conduct business. It was an absolute waste of my money.

The meal was seasoned to perfection and their service
was top notch!
We were supposed to have an outdoor meal, but the weather had other ideas.Chef Jose and his team adapted to serve the meal for 40 in tight quarters of our cottage. They helped us optimize seating and provided decor that was lovely.
Beyond a lovely meal and service, Chef Jose and his team were professional, timely, friendly and helpful. we enjoyed the meal and their service. They made the rehearsal dinner a beautiful and memorable evening.
