Please check your credit card statements. My already over expensive charge of $444.05 was billed an extra $50.00. My credit card charged was billed $494.05. Also, since there is no menu, do not be embarrassed to ask how much each dish costs.

Everything was open people inside.. 2 signs saying open at noon.. people inside eating and I was given a table.. went to use bathroom and thug comes out yelling they were closed.. I leave and guy refused me to goto bathroom ... bad service bad attitude won't go back I think this is a front for some sort of drug dealing owner does not care about selling food.. stay away

I went to Cafe La Buca with my wife and two good friends. To begin with, the food is excellent. The restaurant is smallish and quaint. There is no menu and the waiter (owner?) recites the restaurant's offerings by heart and takes your order without writing it down. The service is unwarm and functional. It's as if they're doing you a favor.I had the octopus salad, which was very good and barely after finishing it, the main course was on the table for two of the four of us. After 5 minutes, the other two plates arrived. Obviously, they wanted to "turn over" the table as quickly as possible. Everything was very tasty and everyone was happy..... until the check came. $70 for branzino, $72 for veal. I felt like I had just had my prostate examined! The reason there is no menu and no prices are posted anywhere is clear. Good food aside, I will not be returning to this restaurant. I will only allow myself to get robbed once.

Cafe la buca was one of our favorite restaurants for Italian food in the area!  We went about once a month!  The food was authentic, delicious and was so reasonable for two couples and served family style so everyone could taste everything!  There was no menu so the server told you what was available for appetizers, pastas and main courses!!  Tonight we took good friends to enjoy this experience and had the shock of our lives!  Without a menu, we had no idea what was happening to us!  Normally for 4, with alcohol, we would have a bill around 160-175 for the two couples!  Tonight, we had NO alcohol and our bill was $450.  We almost fainted!  What a shock! Yes, food costs have risen, but without menus, we had no idea we were spending NYC prices!  We apologized to our friends and have written off Cafe la buca as a regular place to go!  Very sad, embarrassing to us for our friends and disappointing for the future!  Bye,bye.
