They hired felons to pick up our belongings from Vancouver Washington supposed to be in Texas 21 days later did not show up when I contacted independence van lines they stated that I could get a refund then I was told I could not speak to angie the person who said that they would refund my money on day 55. Fast forward to 90 days they said they would not refund me and that I hired them to pick up items they stated that since my items were picked up they were no longer liable for my move. Police found my items in a storage unit 14 miles from where they were picked up with 3days until auction for non payment. Tools and computers we’re missing and my wife’s childhood keepsakes were broken. Independence van lines said they had no liability and told me I could not talk to anyone. Scam lies and just flat out bad business. DONT JUST WALK AWAY RUN AWAY THIS BUSINESS IS BAD THE INDUSTRY IN FLORIDA IS NOT REGULATED SCAM SCAM SCAM. They don’t care so long as they get there money they assured me that they only hired reputable companies yet there are at least 25 other victims from the moving company they hired. So $908.00 down the drain no reimbursement for me having to drive back to Vancouver Washington rent a u haul and drive back to Texas no sorry just well sucks to be you.

Worse experience ever. This company is basically running a scam. They will leave you waiting and will not refund the money when you end up moving yourself. I am currently trying to put them out of bussiness through the states attorney general. If you are having the same problems, contact me to include to the complaint. I am fortunate enough to have the money to improvise and get a uhaul but I am sure not everyone is able to say the same thing.

In the past few months, I've known two separate families in Utah who got crapped on by this company. Both of them were planning big moves across the country and Independence Van Lines cancelled on them THE DAY they had to be out of their apartments. In addition, they told my friends that they would not be refunding them the full amount, and that they would not be available to help them later either. It's just wrong you guys, how can you ditch on people who paid you so well for a service that they really needed? And THEN, you refuse to give them their money back?! I warn everyone against going with this company. Perhaps when they do show up they do a good job, but the fact that they are willing to bail on you on the very day you need them, in addition to refusing to refund you, is not worth the risk.

I ended up canceling and losing my deposit. Don't fall for the high pressure sales pitch and the promises that they make. It was all a lie for me. Read your fine print before accepting. My move kept getting delayed. No apology just excuses. The final estimate was three times what the original was. They did nothing to help facilitate getting my move done in a timely manner.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY I hired Independence Van Lines (IVL) after they gave us a great deal to move our things from New Hampshire to North Carolina in March 2021. IVL contracted the move out to Moving Express and Storage Inc (ME&S) something I didn’t realize when hiring them. I don’t know if IVL over promised things or what, but the whole experience was a nightmare and neither company communicated with us at all. People had warned us moving company scams happen, but I was naïve thinking it wouldn’t happen to us. IVL said a delivery address is not needed and they would store items up to 1 month locally in NC or in route, because we were still searching for an apartment. Once the new apartment contract is signed, they said to call IVL and our items would be delivered within 5 days. This was not what happened at all. We called with our new address, and it ended up taking 20 days for things to be delivered. This may not sound like much but try sleeping on an air mattress with back problems that long, in an empty house with no way to cook. We tried to keep the lines of communication open by calling daily for an update and the whole time we were blown off and told they legally have 21 days from the date we signed the apartment contract to deliver the items. We could work with that if we had an estimate on the date of delivery, but we were left with no idea on when or if things would be delivered the whole time. Better yet the whole time they told us they didn’t know where our items were, and the delivery man let us know it had been only one town away the whole month long in storage. Had we known we would have picked things up ourselves or hired local movers. In the end they called 30 mins prior to delivering our items, which was difficult to accommodate with our new jobs but we made it work. Our nightstand and tv stand were broken, and 7 items valuing $2,225 were stolen. Specifically, a set of golf clubs my husband inherited from his deceased father (IF you accidently got them, please reach out to us! Photo included). The driver at ME&S was very helpful saying he’d try to talk to the owner about locating the items. He even texted us saying he’d found the items and would mail them. In the end nothing was even shipped to us, but the driver offered to mail us someone else’s golf clubs, which pretty much assures me ours were stolen. Also, after delivering, the owner called demanding additional money based on the poorly written paperwork we had signed and a fake weight he made up that didn’t even match the paperwork. We confirmed with IVL that ME&S was paid correctly and had them call ME&S and tell them to leave us alone. Lesson learned, even in the busyness of moving, be sure their awful paperwork they barely fill out is correct, exactly. If numbers don’t add up correctly, but sure it’s fixed right then. We filed the moving insurance claim, but they said they likely won’t pay out and these companies are notorious for bad practices. If they pay out anything, it will only be based on the weight of the item, not the value. They recommended filing with our renters’ insurance, a process we are also pursing. Being left in the dark with little idea of ever seeing our stuff again caused so much stress on top of a huge move, this is unacceptable service. ME&S never picked up a phone call or returned a voicemail. IVL hung up on or blew us off several times. All in all, we paid $2,672.07 for this nightmare with issues still unresolved as of June 2021. Be careful not to believe anything promised over the phone prior to signing any paperwork, the salespeople will promise you everything will be fine, just to get you to sign the contract and pay. If I ever move again, I plan on selling/shipping everything based on so many moving company scams out there. Services: Out-of-county removals, Storage
