Director/Photographer Rod Deal is a multimedia artist who was born in Miami, Florida, yet raised in Oakland California. He returned to Miami to study photographic technology at Miami-Dade College, FIU, & UM. He was trained to shoot all mediums of analog film as well as digital cameras. He is an expert working with all formats of cinema and digital photography & has worked extensively with instant films for numerous fine art projects. He specializes in editorial, portraiture, and photo essays. Recently was a finalist for Miami New Times Mastermind Grant; which acknowledged his talents as one of the premiere creative talents in South Florida. His clients include Coconut rove Art festival, Dell Computers, Northside Media Group, Gabrielle Union, Miami Heat, Adidas, III points Music Festival, Sweat Stock, Miami Herald, Sun Sentinel, and Miami New Times, CashMoney Records, Miami Arts Center, New Art Dealers Alliance Art Fair, Sidebar, Wood Tavern, and the Delano Hotel &, O , Miami poetry festival. Rod Deals first foray into Video Production was the Halloween Hoodie campaign an infomercial for Trayvon Martin that was featured & debated on CNN. His BTS documentaries featuring Floyd Mayweather & 50 Cent have reached millions of views. He was a unit photographer & location scout for the Oscar winning film Moonlight & he is currently filming a documentary on the Poetry & arts scene of South Florida. In 2015 he taught poetry at DCI (Dade Correctional Institute.) for one year teaching the inmates their poetry classes over & 8 week period. Classes were twice a week & 90 minutes long. Each class averaged 35 inmates each, in maximum security prisons. This was a volunteer job that he took once hearing upon the overwhelming deaths & atmosphere of the prison environment. Since 2006 he created The Imperial Mia a weekly night of expression for artists, bohemians & poets in Miami. Voted best Open Mic in Miami numerous years in a row by the Miami New Times. Rod Deal has had numerous art shows showcasing his photography and unique photo mosaics all over South Florida.
