Am not one to write reviews, but want to warn unsuspecting customers of the deceptive and very poor service we received (or didn't receive) over the past 5+ months from Stephenson Construction. We paid Richard Stephenson to deliver engineering drawings for adding some exterior doors, windows and opening a staircase. Our decision was based on his reputation in the commercial sector, rough cost estimate he provided up front, and standard delivery timing for drawings of about 8 weeks. The not-insignificant expense for these drawings was to be credited toward the construction job, should we accept his final cost proposal with the engineering drawings. It took over 5 months to see a complete set of drawings. During this time, my phone calls were not returned, and when due dates were promised, they were consistently missed. When we finally reviewed the drawings with a cost schedule, the costs were significantly more than what was originally suggested. Stephenson said his preliminary costs covered partial MATERIALS ONLY. This is deceptive practice. Because of this poor service, Stephenson agreed to have drawings recast for a less expensive option. Again, it took more time than promised and the resultant project cost was only marginally lower. And finally, when we received the full set of drawings, we discovered Stephenson had mistakenly included a different client's drawings in addition to our own. Needless to say, we decided to move on.
