Who would've known places like these existed in the small crevices and streets of the art district? Came here for brunch, welcomed by very courteous hostesses. You can make a reservation online easily (via Google Maps/Open Table), so we were immediately seated. Got here at noon and there were still plenty of seats available, although, it did get busy by the time we left. Very live and energetic place, and the interior of the tavern is quite compelling. Lamps that resemble trees? Hipster but very cool. The area we sat in was in the middle between the further, more covered part of the restaurant and the outdoor seating, so there was a nice balance of the two experiences. The brunch menu varies between very unique egg dishes where substitutions aren't allowed, and some other unique house favorites. For drinks, you have a choice between bottomless mimosas and bloody mary's, in addition to a variety of beers and house made sodas. Got the watermelon soda...wasn't quite exactly what I expected, but it wasn't bad. And what's a watermelon soda without an order of chicken and waffles, or should I say waffle. You get two delicious pieces of southern fried chicken with a waffle and some hot-maple syrup. Was definitely delighted with that choice. Not a unbelievably huge portion for brunch as other places, so you'll likely be borderline between feeling quite full and maybe needing an additional item, like a dessert. Also got to taste the coconut french toast which was amazing as well. Wanted to try some of the other items available, but at the price the dishes are offered, may have to make another visit to try them. Service was great, however, and it's such a lively place to be. Definitely enjoyed Oak.
