Review for Car Repair Shop. If you can avoid this shop. They are unethical and will take advantage of you if you do not ask for a quote... Before I left for vacation my car's battery seemed to be acting up. When I returned the car would not start so i called AAA to check the battery i had purchased from them 2 years earlier. if the battery was bad then they would replace it at no charge. AAA came and checked it and mentioned that the battery was drained due to an alternator problem. so the AAA person called for a AAA tow truck and when the tow truck person came he was nice enough to look at the car and saw that the alternator belt was torn and that it was an easy fix. I was thinking of taking it to the dealer but decided to take to a local repair person. I had some wiper blades replaced once at my local U-GAS on 97 Avenue and they seemed like a good choice but then i realized that the U-GAS station was being remodeled so i took it across the street to the Mobile Station repair Shop and didn't think twice. Roberto resolved the issue in 25 minutes. not only did he put the alternator belt he replaced the power steering belt. I should have asked for an estimate as i always do, but I did not. Replacing a belt seemed simple enough. A Gentlemen named Carlos billed me $32.16 for the alternator belt and $30.14 for the power steering belt, billed me a full hour of service at $90 with some 4 dollars and change for shop supplies. it was over $160. I knew I've been had. I spoke to Roberto the mechanic to express my concern and he told me to talk to Bob the owner. The next day i spoke to Bob and explained that i felt that i had been taken advantage of and see if he agreed with what i was billed. his answer was that I should not buy U-GAS and BJ's Gas and provided me with a free Car Wash. The next day I found out that full list price for the belts were 15 and 16 dollars respectively or 20 dollars if you want the nicer brand. I was overcharged about 70 dollars on 157 dollar bill. If you can avoid this shop. They are unethical and will take advantage of you if you do not ask for a quote as I should have done. I will be writing to AAA, Mobil, and Goodyear; 3 companies they represent or partner with.
