Health First Hospice

I was impressed with this hospice at first however, HF hospice dropped the ball when my father and I needed them the most. They declined to move him to hospice house the day before his death because he " didn't meet the criteria " and they insisted on moving him to a private room at the nursing home . ( this whole time i wanted hospice house ). Then he crashed overnight and we didn't see our hospice nurse until 30 mins before he passed away that late morning. His nurse was nice however, we needed a nurse that whole morning. He was suffering and so was I watching him. I needed comforting and help that whole morning but only got it for 30 mins. Very disappointed because he didn't deserve to die like that!

My dad struggled to breathe from 1 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. before he got morphine to help him. Health First "delayed" HOURS getting my dad to the hospice house, so he suffered. The inside of his mouth was black from breathing so hard! My son and I suffered with him. Think twice before you have this company care for your loved one, or you'll be traumatized for life!

A special thank you to my mother's CNA[Alexandria from Costa Rica]. She showed up at the house for the first time on the day my mother passed. She spent extra time with my mother and gave her extra care. She washed my mother's hair and got her out of the hospital gown and into a comfortable dress of her own. She prayed with my family and told us about customs her grandfather taught her about the passing of people back in her homeland. She was very comforting and compassionate. It shows that she likes to go the extra mile for those in her care.

I want to thank all the Nurses who took excellent care of my husband Charles .Also want to thank the doctors the social worker Joanna for all the care and concern and so much help nurse Z Who was just amazing God bless you all for all you do . Sincerely Mrs. Honsa and family
